MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 6:47 PMi have 2 simple complaints;
as an alien fanboy I would have been EASILY pleased.. half the stuff talked about here doesn't irritate me.
[1] Too much shown in trailers, combined with the fact its a prequel the film has a "documentary" feel to it. I'd already seen everything i actually liked in the film.
[2] cynical sequel setup.

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 12:29 PMThe scene where the engineer sacrifices himself to seed life on earth doesn't make sense biologically. I am assuming that this is primordial earth since there is no vegetation, which means it is happening 4.5 billion years ago. His DNA is cut in pieces which form the basis for all life on earth. Humans appear 4.49 billion years later and have identical DNA to the engineers ! Well we don't have 100% the same DNA with our relatives how can we have the same DNA with the engineers who obviously look different? And how the DNA sequence was conserved through 4.49 billion years of evolution on earth, since all life on earth and its DNA is shaped by the earth's environment through natural selection? If we assume that the scene occurs only 2 million years ago or so, then how come our DNA is related so much with the DNA of the rest of organisms on earth?
DNA at the molecular level doesn't look like the rope ladders shown in the scene.
It is unconvincing that people would sign up to travel light years away with no idea about the mission
Fifield is unconvincing as a geologist and as somebody who was hired by as a successful company as Weyland for such an important mission.
Prometheus makes sound in space.
They located the engineers base on the planet too easily.
Scenes are too rushed.
The emotional reactions of the crew to the discoveries and the events are not convincing.
The captain and crew behave recklessly and irresponsibly.
David learns a lot of information about the engineers too easily.
The captain takes the heroic decision to kamikaze, too easily based on not much information from Shaw.
The engineer walks to the human ship with no helmet.

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 1:29 PMWhat is there to understand......nothing really. Lots of questions but no logical answers in Prometheus.
Why ? Because the script writers did not think things through when they made this film and so the audience suffers a demeaning joy ride to stupidity and beyond.
Special effects, well what DO YOU EXPECT IN THE YEAR 2012.... stop motion effects ???
Inexcusable for a movie that is based on Alien and suppose to be the prequel to it to be this convuluted.
Yes it ends up being a jarbled mess of editing and script writing without any human heart and emotion to it at all. I could not care even less about the characters as I did in this film. And to top it off it had no suspense at all (if you saw the previews you know already exactly what is going to happen). And encredibly stupid plot holes that can't even be filled by anything but allot of conjecture and guess work that leads to no real logical answers even by the film makers themselves.
To describe Prometheus is kind of simple, you have great special effects, lousy editing, really insulting dumb script writing, and no real common sense or any connection made to the audience by the actors other than the robot actor.
No humans would not react this way even in real life unless all human beings in the future are heartless, super selfish and stupid at the same time ?
And the allusion in this film that there is no God that created all things so leave your faith in God behind, oh really so giant humans are suppose to be God the creator of all life on Earth, oh really come on......this film takes a leap of faith even greater than than the stupid Evolution Theory.
So we are left with a movie that has no human heart felt connection what so ever and throws God in the trash can with no logical explanation of why, which then leaves you not wanting to see this Godless mess of a movie ever again.
It would of been better if this movie was never based on the original Alien movie. Perhaps maybe then it would of made more sense ???
I know for a fact that the film makers and writers did not even remotely understand Ridley Scott's original vision of the Alien movies. Did Ridley Scott have anything to do with this film other than stamping his name on it ? If so then maybe he had a brain stroke recently that we don't know about ? And even he does not understand his own original ideas and nor can he make a good suspensefull logical film anymore.
Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and many others like Ridley, they have all "lost their magic" in making a descent film even if their life depended on it.
I was really disapointed in such a big name director like Ridley Scott who can't deliver Us a descent film despite a huge budget behind him and great actors. I guess maybe you have to be young and in your prime to produce and direct and write a good film these days and one that does not insult the audience.
Many more confusing questions than real answers in Prometheus. How can you explain a film that is this humanly disconnected ?!? The answer: you can't even if they have a sequel to this one......

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 1:58 PMMy God elephantman nit picking much? My lord. Every complaint has been nit picking. Don't get me wrong, there are faults, but seriously its hilarious how nit picky you all are. I can imagine that you are like comic book guy in he simpsons, "worst move ever." I personally was pleased overall. The unanswered questions annoyed me a bit but I still left the theater pleased. Plus, there WILL be a sequel, which will clear the story up more.

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 2:54 PMI wanted to like this movie. Being an Alien Fan from the beginning. Its not nit picking its disappointment. The people who wrote the story did not care about the Alien universe at all. And if thats what they wanted OK. Have your own movie. But if you watch closely the story lines have similaries. I agree to much mileage to cover in two hours. But for a great Sci-fi movie stand-a-lone or prequil. You need 1- A cast you care about. 2- On the edge of your seat expectation of what is going to happen. 3- Make sence follow a theme. I am a Sci-Fi fan and I support it with my hard earned money (ticket sales). But don't lure me in with a great teese trailer. and not deliver.... I am sure after the production was done, and they had there screening they knew the film was not what it should be. But a bean counter said let them, meaning us pay the 14.00$ it cost for a 3d movie ticket. They get the cash we get the trash.............. enough said.
