Now I see it, after carefully working out they hadn't the money to do it right, Hollywood has finally dropped the avp franchise and is now going for Aliens versus Stargate.

I thought about this already and basically mixing dna of species together monstrosities were created also directly tied to the gods were monsters after people died ancient Egpttian gods would have a sort of purgatory before final judgement of the soul... See the book of the dead and the pyrimid texts basically spells were made via hieroglyphs to protect them on their passage painted onto the sarcofugus aiding passing over to the afterlife and also the mummification process was that of taking all the moisture and vital organs from the body before putting them into sarcofugi which I feel may represent is what the sarcofugi may do on the SJ Ship / Star Map room ..... suck out all of your blood organs and liquid and mix them with other lifeforms and create a soup if you like before creating the final new lifeform but thats just my theory It's not a fact just creating from what has already passed and thinking they copied what they did in their funery rituals / embalming process

@20thcenturybuick, I like where you're going with that idea. If the storyline goes in this direction rather than "how many androids are on the ship", "who gets mutated into what", etc, etc. RS hints that the movie goes for the "bigger picture", and I hope he backs it up

I think the term "Space Jockey" probably came from the script which was written in the 70's. The arms seem to be gripping the reins to something in a similar fashion to a horse jockey. Maybe that's where the term came from? I don't know, with a script that was originally titled "Star Beast", maybe "Space Jockey" is something that just was kept in the script because they knew they'd never actually say "Space Jockey" in the movie. I actually hope that they remain officially nameless. Yes... nameless... and mysterious...
