MemberPraetorianApr-06-2017 7:56 PMSo after the release of the "Take me home, country roads" trailer featuring the John Denver song they have really stepped up the quality of this film, and I hope the song features in the actual movie. A good well known song that emotes to the film can make such a difference to how the viewer perceives and remembers the film. It adds another dimension and layer to the experience.
Think of Guns n' Roses "you could be mine" in T2, or Little Richards "Long tall sally" in Predator as excellent Sci-fi examples. Classic memorable films that portrayed the era of those films.
The perspective "Take me home" gives to the film is a feeling of melancholy, nostalgia (wheat fields) and homesickness. It is also builds on Ridley Scotts Truckers-in-space feel he was trying to portray in the original Alien, with the country vibe of the song.
What other songs do you all think would suit this film, and would like see featured in the movie???
Here are my top 4. I've tried to stick with classic bluesy/country/rock song.
1. If I ever leave this world alive - Flogging Molly (how fitting)

2. Walk all over you - AC/DC ( Aussie Rock m/ )

3. Rock n Roll - Led Zeppelin

4. Electric Worry - Clutch

MemberTrilobiteApr-06-2017 10:58 PMSomething Real I see perversion in many genres of music. To each their own, but I enjoy bands who push limits and have the musical chops to back it up- I doubt you would like GWAR.
FFDP is Five Finger Death Punch- a band I would call "Bro- Metal". Good musicians but boring public radio music imo.

MemberTrilobiteApr-06-2017 11:02 PMDK - Oh! I see. Thank you ever so much for the clarification! With regards to music with a more perverse inclination: I am fond of some - to an extent. I greatly enjoy music that has subtley sensual tones that leave some to the imagination. Ramstein, in my opinion, are simply, hmm, very forward with their intentions! :)

MemberPraetorianApr-06-2017 11:06 PMStabbing Westward was a great band too and yes that cover of Hurt by Johnny Cash is brilliant, so haunting. I think its currently being used as the theme song for Logan??

MemberTrilobiteApr-06-2017 11:09 PMSomething Real I don't understand German, so maybe they are more perverse than I know. Generally, I think though perverse, it is honest.
The best way I can describe it is this way:
We can watch movies like the Alien series and think it is great. A lot of bands do the same thing but it is in an audio format. I hope that makes sense.

MemberTrilobiteApr-06-2017 11:10 PMIRaptus I saw the trailer and indeed it is the JC cover of Hurt.

MemberPraetorianApr-06-2017 11:10 PMAll of you have great ideas for music relevant to ALIENverse aspects!! I'm still arguing with my brain as it's 'stuck' on the opening cred score still...
BUT I'd like to throw in...

MemberTrilobiteApr-06-2017 11:20 PMBWW- I always forget about the Zombie! I think this one could work in the Alienverse pretty well:

MemberTrilobiteApr-06-2017 11:29 PMHow can we forget this classic since we are talking NIN and techno in general? This could also fit with David's despise for humanity. Lyrically it is a slam dunk for David.

MemberPraetorianApr-06-2017 11:55 PMTy for saying what you did about my contributory posts! Zombie, man, he has SUCH great 'dark' music, that's also 'fun' here and there, like Dragula, as example! He's probably got music that'll fit almost any genre and topic! :)
And yea Superbeast...man that SO fits!!

MemberTrilobiteApr-06-2017 11:58 PMBLACKWINTER-WITCH - Superbeast would likely be best if utilized in Cameron's Aliens. It is a very driving, "action-minded" song. :)

MemberPraetorianApr-07-2017 12:01 AMGood point on what Kind of ALIENverse movie it would properly 'fit', yeah, it'd have to be an 'action-y' movie, at least partially-so to support the tune.
