What happened to Shaw

I honestly don't know.I think it's possible she's being kept in stasis somewhere.Its likely the newley announced prequel novelization will shed some light on her fate.

i dont think we will see her much again....

I am not sure if we would now get a movie that would show what happened.... but the Novel would touch upon it.

I think considering Shaw wanted answers, to kill her off would be a cop out without her getting those answers.. even if there are no Engineers, or she finds out what David had done..

I think they would surely have to have it that she gets her answers but the Truth is Horrific...  and it would involve Shaw to be used to show her...

So it would be a bit like how Holloway wanted his answers, and David gave him them....

My re-work on Prometheus would have had Holloway after finding out the Engineers are gone.... David would mention about the Vases... all is not lost... would he not want to know their purpose....   Which Holloway would reply "look i came here to meet these Gods.. not collect archaeological antiques .

which is when David would then ask him.... how far would he go, to get his answers....

I think maybe if Shaw asked Questions similar, and David knew the reason for the creation was simply to use as Experimental Hosts...  then by experimenting on Shaw he can give her the answers...

Agree with BigDave- She will get her answer but find out that she is personally part of the answer at her peril. Sort of "be careful what you wish for" or "some things are best left a mystery". No worries. I didn't like wishy washy choose to believe Shaw anyway. Good riddance.

really hope for the series she is still alive. her character, wether seen as strong or week, is something new. we have the ripley character, the survivor and it seems newt and daniels will both be following that trend. and think of the comments and reasons behind why ridley made the changes to the original film and it became Prometheus. a film asking the questions who r we? who made us? shaw is the character who was set up to ask those questions so it doesn't make a lot of sense to just kill her off although it is true we don't need her character in AC as this is more an alien film but in later films I think it makes more sense to have a familiar character to follow. I am probably wrong ill admit but I just hope the AC sequel is more on the Prometheus theme and less alien. we have alien 5 still to come after all

I don't mind if she dies as long as it's a strong death and not anticlimactic.

yea there must be big significance to her death such as morphs into an egg, possibly the one that gets crudrup in the movie. I don't like the idea of her becoming the queen though. shes already birthed something alien

About what you said about the queen,my brother and i discussed the idea of David maybe dropping her into black goo and she evolved into a queen alien.Guess we weren't the first ones who thought of that.

I hadn't thought of it but a few on other threads contemplated it. if done properly could be good but I just don't know. maybe if she is morphed into an egg and its a queen that is the end product could be a decent twist

I don't think it would work any way.The fate of being infected with the black goo is that you'll probably explode at some point like the engineers head.

not been on here long but I have found if u have something on ur mind, start a thread. all ideas and thoughts welcome is the tone im getting from the other folk. they just all seem to love discussing all things alien/ xeno. has to be said ridley scott has probably done something no one (except maybe g.lucas) has ever done before and given us a world that lets our imagination go to weird n wonderful places. until the film comes out and we think ok I was totally wrong lol but them he gives us more questions and although many get annoyed and frustrated at that, if u think about it,we wouldn't be on forums like this after 30+years still letting our imaginations run wild if we got all the answers

iv asked a Cpl of, what I thought, were daft ones but never gets shot down, even turns out the first few responses r along the lines of 'iv often wondered that myself' or 'I never thought of that'

A slight change in atleast wording of the plot.. instead of David being sole survivor.. maybe there's a little hope that Shaw is alive

 No way David is just going to throw Shaw under the bus, he's supposed to be fixated with her. They could go the creepy stalker route with it again but David just killing Shaw for dem experiments is too big of a jump, he's supposed to be a character not a plot device.

I would actually expect Shaw to die by her own choice in the hopes of accomplishing something despite David,s protests.

Hopefully something terrible, I absolutely despise her character because she has no common sense. She just follows her religious beliefs without anything to back it up (and no her "we have proof" isn't enough). If she would be of any use what so ever in the franchise she could be something that David experimented on to get the monsters.

Since David is the only "human" on the planet (according to the synopsis), she is dead. She either perished during the crash landing, David did something to her while she was in cryo-sleep or the indigenous lifeforms on the planet (perhaps tampered with by David) killed her. My theory is that David killed/transformed her during the journey to Paradise and that we will get the details in the prequel novel.

I think she is infected with what Hollawy gave her through their intercourse. So who knows how it will effect her long term.she may not be dead but has mutated.

@Shasta cyclone that is a pretty plausible theory. There's no firm evidence that the trilobite was the only effect her exposure had on her. 

If she does become a mutated monster it would be by the Holloway's intercourse or being infected with black ooze.

I think she is going to be central to the plot, just not seen until the 3rd act and possibly just even hinted to at that point and not seen.

I think the Juggernaught crashes, the Engineers on that planet discover them in cryo-sleep and David in 2 pieces. They reconstruct him while leaving Shaw in stasis and David proceeds to tell his story (since he can speak their language).

They find out she birthed a mutated creature and decided to use her for further experimentation since she possibly is infected with the goo via Holloway and her reproduction system is all funky now. This leads to eggs, huggers, bursters, and all sorts of shenanigans for the Engineers. 

 Actually Holloway's intercourse would only have a very small effect on Shaw, and being infected would cause rapid cell multiplication with small change( Holloway ), but when Feitfeild got exposed to the black ooze he turned into a mutated monster, but how?

His DNA was spliced with the DNA of the hammerpede through the black ooze, thus turning him into a monster but not fully formed (he got killed) so the end result might have been something very close to an actual xenomorph.

So if David or one of the engineers exposed Shaw to the black goo, they would have to add an element to remove excess cells (acid hammerpede blood, or xenomorph blood) but the black goo would end up splicing the DNA together, creating a monster.

That's the one plot hole in Prometheus which I hope they somehow explain in Covenant: How the mutations are different?

We have Fifield, the worms, Holloway, and possibly Shaw.

In the case of the first 2, aggression seems to have been a side effect. Holloway seemed to be in extreme pain but knew what was happening and seemed able to still reason to be put down. The only explanation could be length of exposure or how they were infected? Holloway ingested the goo, the worms bathed in it, and Fifield fell in it.

I don't think the goo requires mother DNA to 'splice' together, or that this is what happened with Fifield. In and of itself, the goo appears to mutate the host it comes in contact with.

in Fifield's case, that's exactly what happened. I don't think the hammerpede had anything to do with what he mutated in to, other than being the cause of him falling in to the black goo by melting his helmet and and face. Had he not had a melted face, the mutated Fifield we saw probably wouldn't have looked so  crusty in the face area!

i think as @Hicks/Hudson has said, so far we have see a few different outcomes of the black goo based of the kind of contact. The outcomes (both to the infected host and what they might produce) have varied. I think this is where David will pick up the testing.

I'm curious to know what happens if a person exposed to black goo (who survives and mutates) or the 'offspring' created by exposure to goo comes in further contact with the goo, or ingests so more? I'm guessing AC may provide a few answers.

the reason why Fifeild mutated was because his DNA was spliced with the hammerpede DNA, the hammerpede blood was also why the mutated Fifeild didn't explode like Holloway was going to.

the black ooze rapidly multiplies blood cells, why Holloway and the engineer head exploded but they also had slight change (why the hammerpedes have acid for blood) so all i'm saying is that black ooze will make you explode (Holloway and the engineer head) or turn you into a giant acid bleeding creature (hammerpede) and can also splice DNA together for more monstrous results (why David is obsessed with the black ooze).

The goo manipulated the worms into Hammerpedes with acidic blood. If we go by your theory, Fifield was mutated by the goo AND the Hammerpede DNA. Shouldn't he then have acidic blood properties like them? When he laid waste to the red shirt mercs in the hanger, he was shot, stabbed, and ran over with no acidic blood.

I think the black goo was a Lindelof creation to help create a plot device, but to leave it with so many holes that people like us try to fill in the blanks with only speculation....so I guess that worked at least lol.

@Movie fan - no, I don't think that's what happened. Other's (@BigDave, S.M etc) may be able to answer better than me, but essentially the difference in what happened to Holloway vs Fifield is their method of exposure to the goo (ingested vs skin contact).   The hammerpede 'DNA' (blood), I don't believe, did anything other than burn Fifield and expose his head (just like Xeno 'DNA' (blood) doesn't/hasn't mutated anyone in other films).

I think the DNA 'splicing' that does occur is the goo with host/victim.

Shaw will give birth to sin again..shes our virgin mary.

The eggs will come from her.writte this down and then say to me...you were right.

As for the scene i think this has potential to be the scene ridley wants to top the chestburster one..in the movie as a flashback or normal scene when they reach the temple depending on how david covers it anf how the crew finds it.

If it was me i would put her in christ position....chained up in a wall mural...with tubes entering her belly with black goo..ovary positions

And from the place we know giving birth to the eggs..or having a trilobite...that hugs a chained elder engineer david captured...that something is born from it and puts those eggs..that creature is a surprise in the end..we cant know for sure the captain is indeed facehugged...or if the xeno we see is the only one or product of that facehugging.

Im expecting twists hidden in the dark...the trailer cant be that obvious.

Its a long film for such explained trailer sequence ;)
