MemberOvomorphDec-26-2013 2:45 AMWow, would you look at that:
the illustration used for the WELCOME TO THE PROMETHEUS FORUM is the strange \'amalgamated\' version where the Ganesha Elephantine \'space jockey\' or Space Trucker from Alien as I refer to him has been photo-inserted into the newer glassier less-organic Prometheus tech of the Driver\'s Chair.
Subtle changes to \'reality\' like this show us how we\'re constantly back-Engineered to believe the corporate lie, be it Christmas or God or Money.

MemberNeomorphDec-26-2013 6:57 AMYep!
The design of the "new" space jockey in Prometheus is obviously different to that of the SJ from ALIEN. The main difference that strikes me everytime i see the Prometheus SJ, is that the "trunk" or "air hose/regulator" is thicker and looks like an elephants trunk. In comparison, the SJ from ALIEN's air hose/regulator looks nothing like an elephants trunk.
There are other clear differencies also, like the obvious size difference.
The poster was good though!

MemberOvomorphDec-26-2013 11:48 PMRidley is not going to make another SJ just for the those fans who were no pleased with that decision you got to let it go already. Technically it doesnt matter which air regulator/hose it is...the one in Prometheus is more pachyderm elephantine than anything from Alien. The next movie will not have another SJ class your hoping against something thats not gonna happen. The one in Alien was dead for thousands of years and his suit and hose had ossified in that environment deflated no air.
The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

MemberOvomorphDec-27-2013 1:23 AMThe way I see it all these subtle differences in designs and the size differences are very intentional. To me I think there are too many things that changed in weird subtle ways between the tech and organisms.
Form follows function when it comes to technology. But function for whom? Make them smaller so they're easier for the filmmakers to work with? Or did the tech and sizes really change because this Engineer faction is smaller, developed in a different environment, under different circumstances, and has different needs?..Or does keeping them smaller keep the larger faction in control...
Ridley is a very visually based person as an artist/filmmaker. We have many clues in the movie that are visual in nature. When analyzed they help figure out parts of the movie, the alien life cycle, the mural possibly connecting to things later etc. Basically I think there isn't a single visual detail that hasn't been approved by Ridley, and that every image is very intentional. Every small detail could be important, although it might not seem that way right now because of the "trick" that has been perpetuated by the company and the androids.
The size of the doorways is another thing, some of the controls are too high even for an Engineer to reach without a ladder. In Lawrence of Arabia there are multiple factions (this is very important to David as he quotes it multiple times), and the character in the movie has the foresight to learn all the languags first, like David. David didn't know how to interpret some of the images, as they aren't words, they're pictures. Some symbols seemingly not fitting the patterns associated with the spoken language. In the happy bday viral David was asked what he sees, he can only work out "the broad strokes".
In all likelihood there could be another larger faction and David already knows about it. Statements by androids and filmmakers can be read multiple ways, which might allow David or Ridley to get away with tricking us. "Big things have small beginnings" is something that would be true in many ways, but not for the Engineers.
Engineers are us, so why are we shorter than them? We contain both sexes. Shouldn't it have logically occured to Shaw that if they are us, then they have female genetics of some form within them? If they can be larger than us, then it should logically follow that there can be even taller humanoids out there than them. If we can be smaller than them, then there can be bipedal humanoids which they are smaller to...These kind of "if, then" statements would have already all ran through the robots mind instantly. It's quite possible a taller species created them, since we were created by a taller species.
Custodian is only being logical, with maybe a bit of emotion thrown in. Shaw was emotional and intuitive when she made her inference -- still desperately searching for a creator, which made her think of it. But she's right: it could logically follow that if they're us, then someone created them too. The whole reason Shaw goes to Paradise is because she knows emotionally/intuitively, and then logically, that there is another creator group. David's secretly the one who's too emotional and logical at the same time, and this makes for bad science. If they are us, then some similar patterns of social organization might exist but they will vary. We both have cultures that use art to express themselves and transmit knowlege. We both may have certain beliefs or a sort of hierarchy. I don't know exactly how I feel yet...but after analyzing and coallescing data long enough I feel confident in saying: if they are us, then the genetic blueprint/genotype's physical expressions can somtimes vary greatly in look, height, social status and gender across space and time ;)

Fantasic Post and use of paragraphs to make reading you posts easier....
You hit the nail on the head on many points as i have said many times, there is no reason why these Engineers are creations in the image of another being just as we are also creations in same image and thus we can still see 12ft+ Humanoids that would explain the Space Jockey.
As far as the Space Jockey and its withered look...
We must first realise as i said when this forum first opened, the Engineers Tech is Bio-Tech their suits are Organic to a degree...
Here is a dead Cactus...
And here is one alive...
This shows how Organic Material can wither over time, so why cant a Bio-Tech Organic suit do the same?

MemberPraetorianDec-31-2013 4:40 AMIf a higher and perhaps larger species created the Engineers, will we ever see them? Is Holloway's response a clue: "We'll never know."
Personally, I'd like to see it all. The creators, larger Elephantine SJ beings, the Deacon, an explanation of how the Morb originated. There's no reason why all of these factors can't be considered in the sequel!
Why can't the next chapter of the story please everyone?

MemberOvomorphJan-01-2014 12:39 PMit's not that 'the story Scott came up with' didn't please everyone.
Many people LOVED Prometheus - and visually it was stunning - but it didn't answer the basic PREQUEL questions Scott gave as excuses for doing the thing in the first place 1) the Elephantine Space Trucker in his Hyper Space Machine and 2) his cargo of hand-eggs on 3) LV-426.
Why HAND-EGGS cargo? and how did it become Black Goo? And were the black goo containers even stored within the Derelict/Juggernaut anyway?
Why big fat enormous GigerDriver in Alien? and how did it become diminutive baseball player-sized blue-humanoid speaking in Prometheus?
Why LV-223 and not 'where the original Alien was filmed' i.e. LV-426?
It's like Scott DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH the tasks he'd set himself. Or was it just an ALIEN FRANCHISE REBOOT?
Anyway, every film after Alien has sucked in some fundamental way, so maybe a reboot wasn't such a bad idea - I just don't agree with where Scott/Lindelof went with the 'prequel that became a newborn'. They lost the Giger-lustiness, the threat of something really rude happening to a human body met with biomechanoid lust.

MemberPraetorianJan-01-2014 1:43 PMSorry Custodian I have amended my post. I meant why can't the NEXT chapter of the story please everyone?
If Fox, Ridley etc have any sense, then surely all you have mentioned above could be addressed........hopefully!!

fear not; I think my response to your obtuse response is still 'valid'.
