Ok at the 54:27 mark of the film there is a huge pile of dead Engineers. The one Millburn is pointing at clearly has the chest busted wide open. So WEeeee Know what happened.

Well all righty then LOL. These engineers were running from a massive infestation of aliens. However, cause Scott did not want this movie in any way to have anything to do with another "Alien" film these overterly obvious scenes in the flight chamber were cut because I think Scott was trying to stay ture to his original intent with this new film. Plus I think there are still people in some part of the world without civilization that have not seen the other films yet so Scott wanted no spoilers on this film...I can't type this with a stright face LOL.

I want to add that this should have been a very hard "R" film and Scott had way more then enough money to film this to scare us so bad if we even read the word Engineer we would have to run out the room screaming!....I remember the first Alien movie gave me nightmares for weeks. There were grown people running out the theater that I saw it in when I was in the sixth grade. People were falling asleep in this film and when they woke up they looked refreshed and ready to go. LOL

these 'Engineers' are SO SMALL maybe they were just the Hitler Youth of their time period, kinder i.e. children.

I quote from it the following when ridley asked fincher how it was going with the making of alien3:

'Ridley asked how it was going and I said ' really bad.'And he said 'it never goes well ....this is not the way to make movies, make sure you make a little film where you have some control whilst they are beating you up.
 I now wonder If fox just decided to make the engineers smaller to save money ?? Ridley perhaps wanted to go 12 feet and fox said no ?? From the above it seems Ridley actually had very little say in what prometheus turned out to be.

The concept art done for Prometheus, never ceases to blow me away. Why on earth they left most of those ideas out of the final film leaves me gobsmacked!

@Oduodu.......Haha that Engineer's feet had a bad case of space cheese! The lone survivor chopped them off in anger, before going to cryo beddie-byes! 

Well all we can say is this movie has some colossal screw ups compared to the ideas and concepts and ideas from the scripts.....

The main disappointments for me was the lack of scale and also the contradictions, the movie in places just lacked coherent flow... and had many things going on with little connection well contradiction, i.e there was clues to a number of possible things going on and this is all Lindelofs style of Ambiguity he uses in Lost..

First of all lets look at the Chest Busted Engineers, as yes this image posted proves they was going for Chest Busted Engineers at the actual filming of the movie, and not just Script. Now the detail on the Engineer is lacking and has no feet lol, but its not needed as these Engineers will never been seen in detail ones the Cryo Pod lid is on and its broken glass, you will not clearly see the Engineers under it.

But this image does show they are indeed Chest Busted, which being as though this movie is in the Alien Franchise we can all safely assume means they was chest busted via some Organism related to the Xeno or the Deacon.

This adds a possibility to what could be chasing the Engineers, it could also mean some of the holes in the dead Engineers are puncture wounds caused by said Organisms....

But then we are left with a puzzle, that is why did the movie lead a lot of emphasis on an infection, and also the exploding head to send us down the route that maybe these Engineers suffered the same fate....

Yet we are also left with the what appeared to be Chest Busted Cryo Pods and that scream... that was like the Deacons....

While Lindeloff can pass this off as keeping the movie ambiguous and leaving us with no clear answer and only clues that can lead to more than one outcome... sometimes while i am a fan of ambiguity... (The Murals etc are Ambiguous) some things are just plain contradicting.

As it is now we can only guess that both a outbreak and a Chest Busting had occurred in what order who knows, and how the Last Engineer survived again, who knows...

Second onto the subject of Scale, this is my biggest gripe with the movie... and Ridley and Fox dropped a Bo Bo in Alien as well...

You see the idea was our Space Jockey was 26ft, and that by using a 16ft chair with a Space Jockey Prop and what up to 4ft tall Child Actors we would get the grand scale of a huge being, well the illusion would been 22-23ft tall not 26ft

When they switched to proper Adult actors up close we could see our Space Jockey was 15ft tops, and i recon he was about 13ft.

Switch to Prometheus the Drafts all went the way to show a 12-15ft race that coincide with the size of the Space Jockey, when they filmed the movie they could not get that sense of scale so revised the size and tried to create the Illusion of a 9-10ft tall Race of Engineers...

Sadly again this failed and all we was left with was 8ft Tops illusion...

In fact looking at the Chest Busted Engineer in that Cryo Pod we can clearly see those pods would never hold a 9ft being and the one lying dead is what 6.5ft Tops

IMO, this image answers the question of was and what was chasing the engineers down the tunnel. His upper torso is completely wide open, exactly like Bob's torso after he gives birth to the deacon. So, it appears that it was a deacon/s that was chasing them, NOT Giger Aliens, as a Giger Alien would have left a much smaller hole.

Maybe i'm getting a little ahead of myself here. Could it have been a Trilobite that burst from the deseased engineer?

We all understand why they left things out, not showing the Deacon in the hologram, just the sound of it. Burst cryo chambers etc. 

The logic was the audience will get it & we don't really want to show what has been done loads of times before. I think they just took this a bit too far & the end result is just messy!

@Lone; yeah, that does make more sense! I think that a trillobite would have a great deal of difficulty getting through the engineer's pressure suit. :)

But, where did the facehugger, that impregnated them, come from? Would it have been concieved like cuddles was? OR, did it come from an egg?

well its as i said in my post but you may not had wanted to go through the essay lol..

This image is of a prop Chest Busted Engineer that i think they may have done 3 of and then had these under the Chest Busted Cryo Pods, thats why the details are not great and has no feet lol, as you wont see them in the shot.

And Lone, yes we dont need to be spoon fed, my point was that to the casual viewer they would never notice the scream and also see the chest busted cryo pods, only those with keen eye and those who are aware of the Alien Franchise would see the connection and a image as posted above confirms that inside those other 3 Cryo Pods are Chest Busted Engineers, only this image does seem to show a large Chest Busting but the holes in the Cryo Pods are more smaller.

Well its a Mystrey as to how and when these other Engineers got infected, if we take into account the image seen on this post, then yes it looks like a Chest Buster Event, now we have to assume this would be a result of something created from the Goo or some kind of Face Huger and by no means a result of those Engineers getting contaminated with the Goo.

Maybe just maybe these Engineers was Sacreficed to be Face Huged and then placed in Cryo Sleep to put a stop to the process untill after the Ship has made it to Earth, Maybe in the hope that the Chest Busters would then come into contact with the Goo?

But then the Engineers all seemed calm in the Orrey Room Ghost Engineer Scene... so yes its a puzzle, but i kind of think maybe the Last Engineer had a hand in what went down.

And while reading your comment about the "Chest Bursting" route contridicting the "Infection" route, i remembered what Lindelof once said in an interview. He said something like "Prometheus has two children; One grows up to be ALIEN and the other one will grow up with the Prometheus sequels."

I think that this is why we have ambiguity here. The chest bursting route LEADS to ALIEN, where as, the infection route will LEAD to the Prometheus sequels.

Just a thought.

Yes indeed where did the facehoiggers come from - queen eggs or morphing - who was morhed - an engineer ?? Who injected the engineer or ewas that the result of the black goo and and the engineer that turns into a xeno used his stinger to morh other engineers ?? Is that what happened to the pile of dead engineers perhaps ?? They turned into eggs inside the suits after being stung ?? Ripped the eggs out and went to the orrery ?? Perhaps what caught davids attention in the storage area ?? And the engineers already asleep got the huggers while the still awake engineer returned to stasis later on ???

Definiely looks like a deacon burst that to me. I agree.

Yeah i have read Lindeloffs comments on the different organisms...

I remember the way he did it he was kind of hinting that their is a connection to the Xeno and Worms, and also that maybe what we see going down on LV 223 is what leads to the Xenomorph in Alien.... but off course Ridley said the Xeno had been around for a long long time....

But i guess we cant rule out that the Indigenous Worms could have got contaminated with the Goo at some early point in time, so we cant rule out the Worm Connection just that the particular ones we saw in the movie dont lead to the Alien.

But as far as Chest Busting goes, again i dont think the Deacon leads to the Xeno and also i dont think that the Chest Busted Engineers in Cryo Sleep lead to the Xeno, but they could have been impregnated with the same kind of Face Hugers.

There is just so many possible reasons to how when and why the Xeno came about and how those Engineers all suffered and what relevent connections there are.

Did you guys catch the pics of the 2 Engineers (yes, one looks like our last remaining Engineer) in the pilot room? They are complete with bio-suits, yet have Robes on just like the dudes in the beginning. To me, and i realize this May be pushing it; they look almost like undercover 'agents'. Call me crazy.

They are seen crouching near the other cryo-pods and running around the room. Could this be the 'Sabotage' I've wondered about? Could this answer the age old question...?
