MemberOvomorphApr-16-2013 6:36 PMI've seen a lot of distaste here for the term " Xenomorph". This name has been around for some 26 years, since James Cameron coined it in Aliens.
I understand that part of the problem is that Xenomorph isn't really a proper name, but an adjective. So what do all of you think? Any ideas as to what might be a better name for the beloved Xeno?

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2013 7:02 PMHow about Incestivus Raptus, Linguafoeda Acheronsis or Biomechanical Nightmare? :D Plus I think the word Necro can also serve.
Anyway the Xenomoph not served by a chronological factor. See Shaw or another crew using that name would be a bad idea.

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2013 7:12 PMYou know, Shambhala, I was kinda ambivalent about this but the more I think about it, the more I definitely don't want to hear Xenomorph in the sequel. Not that I think we will. How about this: The BIOLATOR.
Oh, I'm just full of fun today.

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2013 7:35 PMNow that name fits better with the Trilobite, :p joking. But I do not joke with Star Beast XD

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2013 7:38 PMits xenomorph, nothing will ever change that. its interesting, iconic, makes sense, and like the term "space jockey" if you use it for such a long time, it will never change no matter how much you shove a new name into the movies. so why even bother trying? lol

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2013 7:40 PMnot that it would be in the next Prometheus. of course not that would be stupid. buts thats still what they will always be known as.

MemberFacehuggerApr-16-2013 8:04 PMOut of interest, one of the Greek to Latin translations for xenomorph is allophylus forma

Custodian
MemberOvomorphApr-17-2013 1:38 AMGiger Beast is the only name I'm truly comfortable with in that it relates to the 'original' Star Beast script and it's by Giger ONLY.
This forthcoming Gigerless-universe franchise i.e. Prometheus 2, 3, mini series ... wonder what xeno design renaissance will show its referential head above the parapet.
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...

Legendary Xenomorph
MemberOvomorphApr-17-2013 2:54 PMxenomorph is fine by me since the films, comics and games always have xenomorph.
although others are named without xenomorph such as predaliens, praetorians and razor claws.
I like to call them as demons from the sky or as engineers would say experiment gone wrong.

MemberOvomorphApr-17-2013 6:11 PMHow about Mighty Morphin Power Alien?....No..okay.
The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

MemberOvomorphApr-17-2013 8:12 PMThank you Cuponator but I have to point out that unlike Bob and Cuddles, Bruno is a serious suggestion for an alternative to Xenomorph. For those still on the fence, may I suggest Brunomorph.

MemberOvomorphApr-17-2013 9:52 PMAnyway I'm a little tired of the word xenomorph but also we don't know if the sequel will have monsters (or the deacon, because it could be completely new creatures, who knows)

MemberOvomorphApr-17-2013 10:29 PMThe MORB. I know it sounds like NOOB but that's just a coincidence, I assure you. Heretofore I will refer to the Xeno as the MORB.

MemberOvomorphApr-17-2013 10:54 PMWhat's about Plaque ( xeno as an ultimate parasite) consumes everything what lives, and after that dye, and only its spores survive; waiting for another chance/host.
Still the xenomorph is my favorite name!! :-)

MemberOvomorphApr-22-2013 10:53 AMThe unknown, as we know, is far more terrifying than anything we could assign a name to.
This is why people so desperately feel a need to name and know everything. This is also why we fear death (because truthfully, no one knows, if we were certain there was a cloudy heaven waiting, well that wouldn't be scary at all)
This I why the creature is so much more effective when it remains nameless.
Xenomorph is a stupid title, it literally just means Alien, or 'Foreign Form'
I think ill stick with "that creature from Alien" or "The beast"
Xenomorph sounds like a bug infestation, which set the tone for the stupid Cameron follow-up.

MemberOvomorphApr-22-2013 11:45 AMI Personally can't think of anything more mysterious and frightening than MORB. The way everybody refuses to embrace it only proves that it's too frightening to even type on a keyboard. Good thing I have the courage to do this for you. MORB is the new BOO!!
Necronom 4
MemberNeomorphJun-22-2013 1:04 PMBruno LOL....I call it Necronom ...It's more of a tip of the hat to H R Giger than anything else. Or Necromorph.
I do like the term Morb.
What about "Dickhead"?
The poster was good though!
