MemberOvomorphApril 01, 2013what I'm saying is, "If xenos are the gods, why is there a statue of a humanoid head in the ampule room?"
In fact, didn't Lindelof INSERT this into the Spaiht rewrite? Has Lindelof ever been cross-examined about the head?
Man, I gotta let this lie - but I love the discussion too much. I love it.

In fact, "Yeah, everyone should be allowed to RATIONAL THINK," even those who sorely miss Space Trucker and/or 'Prometheus has landed' and/or come up with alternative-desire threads for 'whatever the hell happened' to their gloriously adult and perverse Giger-series that Lindelof shat on, as a prequel.
I mean, he really did, didn't he? And what's that MASSIVE HEAD all about? And the Crucified Xeno on the wall? And the green crystal? Were these (and other) questions ever answered? No, because Lindelof threw threw in, as a foil for Ridley's original Space Jockey enigma. But unfortunately, no, now humanity can't be the only thing attached to the Engineer DNA random seed scatter, our cats and pigeons and earthworms ALSO need to have been affected by the black goo when the spaceship visited Foss falls. I mean, has it even been established that planet was even Earth?
Noob, I love your 'crumbs of the gods' image. You rock.
Hal, I wonder if 'what I'm saying' is really all that hard to understand.
Wait, oh, I get it, it's 'just a film' so no RATIONAL THINK allowed, right? I guess I'll go on the Superman forum and start to get concerned over his 'levitation' trick; you know, him being far denser than the average human.

I can feel the tension from my chair lol. I encourage everyone to calm down, but am not telling you too, so don't take that the wrong way. lso, discussions that like this are big ideas that are very real possibilities for the nxt movie and we are bound to disagree so keep going with this, but don't let your tempers boil over ;) <3 to friendship! ladies and gentlemen

The relationship between creators and xenos can be like the relationship between humans and apes. Although they could be ancestors; as a primitive life form of another more complex creature, but definitely the xenos are not gods of any kind.
BTW the thought of Major Noob sounds interesting, but if the sequel will be directed in that way then we will never see the creator of the Engineers. However the mystery could generate certain charm, as with the original Space Jockey enigma.

There is so many ways they could go creation wise from here, we already we established that engineers are the ones who essentially created us but now there is so much. what about the xenos and the engineers' gods? this is the question(obviously, since it is pretty much what we have discussed already) and I don't think we will have the answer until it is put on screen for us to see and think about

Just make something up; you're probably putting more thought into it than the film crew did.
But the reason is so that they could show the humanoid head in the trailers to get you interested in the movie so you'd buy a ticket to give Fox money.

The xenomorphs are nothing more than "harvesters and cleaners" to other forms of life b/c they are destructive and invasive.
The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

Since the movie was originally called Alien Engineers, it's safe today the Engineers made the Xeno (or at least learned how to synthesize them) not the other way around!!
Yes they regard it as a "perfect organism" like Ash, but it is their creation. (They may have borrowed some genes to 'tweak' themselves but that I it!!)
'God' will be a totally new being, I'm sure.

By 'perfect organism' I suspect Ash meant "there's no way to kill it" i.e. it always exists. It might change its form and go through 'evolution' but it never dies. It's like living metal or some other thing -- in fact, I always loved this about the original xeno in Alien a) it was probably made of some sort of living metal and b) it was STILL changing and transforming its shape throughout its adult phase i.e. it could slip through cracks in machinery etc.
It is a GOD in that sense, just not a creative god, neither a destructive god. Just omnipotent in time, it's always alive.
I suspect, if they'd have given it some thought, they could have suggested that its ACIDIC BLOOD was the black goo that the Engineer drank, but I don't know if that's part of the plan. That the outer shape of the xeno is just some 'hardened carapace'.
Xeno is singular AND never dies.

Yes I agree the engineers were already established as the gods that created us, and according to Ridley Scott, when he posed the question: Who created the engineers? The answer was God. I saw that in the documentary 'The Furious Gods'. Now Claudius, no point at getting mad at me. Also I have posted my ideas about Paradise if you will go back and read them. I said that Shaw and David were walking into a political war between the faction that created us and then pro space Jesus ones who blamed us for crucifying their emissary and therefore wanted us dead, such as the one at the end of Prometheus. So if you want something logical to argue about, I welcome one about that theory if you want. I welcome all well thought out sensical hypotheses, but don't be surprised if I react to ones that don't hold up to logic, and the idea of xenos as gods just doesn't cut the mustard.

Agreed Nostromo!!
Xeno is birthed from Engineer/Human/ sometimes dog, not the other way around!!
I also agree that they are held in High esteem by the Engineers.
To say they are Gods, just not 'creative' Gods, is missing the point. Are we asking who came first, who made who, or simply who is lower on the totem pole?
Also the behaviour of Xenos is purely survival instinct:
Kill any threat (or what is perceived as a threat)
Reproduce.
They have incredible instincts and defence mechanisms, I think this is what Ash 'admired' about them. They are like him- no messy emotions, stronger, better, faster...plus acid blood to boot. Not to mention the cool ways (cut or uncut) they can reproduce.
Anyway, ramble...ramble-I agree with whoever said they are more like 'harvesters' or 'cleaners' used to wipe the 'Petri Dish' clean.
Not Gods; it just doesn't fit.

Fleshvessel,
the point of my 'perfect organism' quote and that this might mean they're gods is, "Something that is alive, forever, and is intelligent, and can morph a human into an egg, and do all other things," AND NEVER DIES.
Isn't that God-ly?

Hal9000,
there are NO TATTOOS of p.i.e. on the face of an Engineer, only on his statue.
PS: Did anyone TRANSLATE them btw, in the film, or since? If there's a thread, please point me at it.

Custodian,
I hate to ask again (obviously I'm not the only one not getting you right away) but what is your point in the previous comment? I did not say anything about TATTOOS in this or any other thread...
The only thing I'd imagine you're referring to is the dissimilarity between the Engineers and their depictions/statues/murals?
TRANSLATE what, the TATTOOS? Or the inscriptions in the temple?
Please clarify. Cheers.

Nostromo,
this face:

is there an Engineer (good or bad) in the film that has THESE MARKINGS on his face? No.
Have I missed a published translation of these facial markings (yes, I called them tattoos because if they were on a real person's face I'm not sure they'd survive the 'chiselling')?

April 04, 2013
There's something very primative about these engineers. Those facial markings remind me of some of the aboriginal people of austrailia and primative tribes of africa and the amazon. It is possible that the engineers do worship the xeno as a god even though it is not really one, much like primative tribes worship animals or nature spirits. If you think about it for the engineers to have millions or possible billions of years head start on us just how much more advanced are they really. Perhaps they had their own version of a dark age and their techonolgy is frozen in time and their religion is what has kept them there.
April 05, 2013
Maybe the markings are a warning to other Engineers entering the room.As for the Engineers themselves, I see them as Monks, that why I think David was a blasfamous creature to them.As for the Xenomorph as a God, very unlikely, on the other hand maybey an important part in their lifecycle?A necesarry symbiote impossible to live without in some weird way....maybe the Xeno is somekind of prophecy to them?
