Anunnaki50
MemberOvomorphFeb-18-2013 1:38 AMI want the game, could you tell me what the issues are in the game?
The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

AdminEngineerFeb-18-2013 1:41 AMThanks for posting this up! I own the X360 version, finished it this afternoon...
Let me just say the staff and I are all working on a collaborative review, touching on every little thing the game has to offer. But I'll be the first to say it feels like I'm playing a PS2 game again. The graphics did get much, MUCH worse compared to the DEMO, as shown in this vid. Excellent comparison.
I did like the homages to the films, and the many Easter Eggs..
I'm trying to remain positive, cause I've looked forward to this game for years as I'm sure many of you all have. But there are some definite key features which were advertised, but are sadly missing all together from the final game.
But look for our full staff review soon where we will go into much greater detail.
Thanks for posting!

MemberOvomorphFeb-18-2013 1:57 PMI could never express the level of frustration that I am experiencing after pre-ordering this game and now attempting to play it. I freely admit that I am not the best game player but they really should have provided a means of instant saving so people could make some progress and then save their efforts before attempting to move on. As it is I find myself replaying the same sequence over and over again and now I realize that the only thing I am going to be able to do is wait for someone to publish a method of activation of cheat mode or godmode. The game is so new that there are none published and I have read all the posts on sites describing trainer activating software which also turned out to be fraudulent. I even purchased an xcbox 360 game controller but that was of little use since I have no experience using one. But all of this frustration would not be present of Sega or Gamebox had simply designed their game better. All of this is in addition to the loss in quality of the video from the demo to the final product and in my opinion far more important. If any one has any ideas I am all ears but keep in mind that I have read much and tried everything I could think of.

MemberOvomorphFeb-19-2013 8:46 AMWhat happened to this game? Apparently Gearbox outsourced most of this game to third party studios Timegate, Nerve and Demiurge, with Timegate responsible for most of the single-player campaign under Gearbox's supervision. Apparently Gearbox was too busy with Borderlands 2 to care about Aliens: Colonial Marines, and it's such a shame we as fans deserve better than this

MemberOvomorphFeb-20-2013 3:33 PMI agree that the graphics have been a bit disappointing, and there are some gameplay issues that to me are minor, and likely will be fixed in a patch, however, I actually really like the game and am a big fan of it. Here me out:
In my opinion, 90% of the franchise fans fall into one of 3 categories: 1. Ones that think everything that occurred after Alien was garbage. 2. Ones that think that everything that occurred after Aliens was garbage. 3. Ones that think there were some redeeming qualities to Alien 3, but pretty much wish the franchise ended with Ripley falling in the lava pit. There's not a whole lot of good storytelling in the Alien games, comics, prequels, AVPS, or any type of official canon of the franchise past Alien 3. That is over 15 years of a highly successful franchise anchored by 2 of the best movies EVER made, and there was nothing that came since that is remotely interesting to most fanboys.
The story of Aliens, Colonial Marines (ACM), in my opinion, did it's best to make a lump of coal into a diamond. The story is not perfect, but it takes a BIG mystery we've wanted answers to for years (what else happens after "Aliens") and puts together one of the more cohesive stories we've seen in the last 15 years.
For example, one may ask how the Alien egg got on the Sulaco before Alien 3. ACM gives a viable explaination, that Weyland commandeered the ship while Hick, Ripley and Newt were in hypersleep. Weyland took over the ship and planted eggs, which they clearly had plenty of time (since the events of Prometheus) to find elsewhere and study. How does a xeno nest then form on the Sulaco? Well, its feasible to think the Sulaco doesn't fly itself...there could've been hundreds of pilots and maintenance technicians on board that we never saw during Aliens. All Weyland had to do is put a few eggs on there and let chaos erupt, and they then have their own mobile alien hive they can study remotely or from different sections of the ship. They kidnap Hicks as he has operational value, fake his death by throwing another body in his cyro so that more marines don't come looking for him, and put a facehugger in chamber to take care of Ripley and Newt.
I could go on for pages. I think any fan of the franchise should play the game. It does a great deal of fan service to us (how cool is it to go through a post Nuke Hadleys Hope and find Hudson's body cocooned???). All elements of "Aliens" were utilized effectively except maybe the powerloader battles. There are some tense moments, and the Alien AI is a bit off, but honestly, if they made the xenos any smarter, the game would be completely impossible. But overall, I am enjoying this game for the story and the experience, and the fan service. I think it was well thought out and one of the few, if any, franchise stories since Aliens that has been worth anything. It could've been more, but I think Gearbox tried to give "Aliens" fans what they wanted for 25 years and I think, all things considered and with the canon they had to work with, they did a quite admirable job.

MemberOvomorphFeb-20-2013 3:47 PMTo elaborate further, other things I liked:
1. Yes, Hadley's hope survived the explosion. We make bomb shelters on earth that can survive Nukes. Why wouldn't they build a space colony in a similar fashion?
2. Xenos were not eliminated by the nuke explosion, they merely mutated. We all say roaches will be the only thing to survive a nuke on earth, we can assume xenos have better survival ability.
3. Weyland PMCs and scientists already setting up a lab site near the Derelict. Burke reported this back to them during Aliens, and they probably already had a full team standing by to launch once he gave a positive ID.
4. Shoot the head of the space jockey when you get to the chamber. I think this board already covered that.
5. Welding doors shut, using powerloaders, battles against APCs, the exact recreation of operations and medical from Aliens
6. True sound effects, the best i've heard in an Aliens themed game.
Sorry for the double post. I just think this game is getting severely overlooked due to outdated graphics and a few glitches at launch.

MemberOvomorphFeb-21-2013 12:48 AM@hicksandhudson: i agree w much of what you said. No question, the game could have been much better...a missed opportunity, for sure (particularly concerning the graphics and some of the voice acting etc.), but the game isnt nearly as bad as some have made it out to be. Despite the warts, ive had fun with it (havent encountered any serious glitches yet). *spoiler alert* walking through the derelict juggernaut was an absolute treat. im upset that the game isnt what it should and easily could have been, but im glad i purchased it. Ill probably even play it again after im done.

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2013 5:49 AMI bought the special edition of Aliens Colonial Marines and I was not impressed with the story line... things didn't add up and the ending left me with more questions of why end it like that? Yes there were a few perks but the tie in to Aliens 3 wasn't clear and Hicks character after Aliens ... okay?! I am a franchise fan to the creature and I wished there were a clear link to where they came from, why they are there, and a decent flow to possibly properly link it to all story lines that make the franchise work. I hope somebody gets it for once. Because it would be a waste of tons of money, and resources to create another story that ends up boring and basically confusing... I read many reviews of the game and like others we all were asking the same type of question... "what the hell did I just buy to end up wrapping the game with the queen easily extinguished?" and lots of other questions. See Youtube reviews of game funny and honest. I have been reading posts of a lawsuit for false advertising to one of the game creation companies lately. Please take into consideration FLOW OF ALIEN STORY OF XENOMORPH more seriously.
A big fan from Canada thanx for reading my rant.
