Custodian
MemberOvomorphOct-08-2012 1:52 AMI hadn't noticed this in the film but the Last Engineer's face seems to be burned on one side, but ONLY AFTER cuddles grabs him.
Having seen the extras, and there's not BURNING shot between himself and Shaw in that Axe Battle, where did this burn come from?
Did it happen when cuddles grabbed him? A quick squirt of tenticular acid to shock him into painful compliance? Ensure the Death Embrace?

MemberOvomorphDec-29-2012 8:40 PM I have to admit I had not noticed the face burn. Just like RS to have additional Prometheus Fire references throughout the movie.
THat fight between thealien and Engineer seemed almost like Pro Wrestling bout.
THat alien had so many tenacles that even for the Engineer's size and strength his physicallity let him down.
That had to quite a blow to this Engineer's ego. A lesson learned too late.

MemberOvomorphJan-04-2013 12:03 AMWill some of you guys give it a rest already. Its an INCONSISTENCY it happens in movies more times than you or me have seen them. I saw the same thing but the scene is called a 'deleted scene' for a reason. They couldnt put it in the movie because of its design not lining up with the plot of the film No he was not squirted by acid that only comes out when you wound the creature are you sure you've seen Alien?! NO No and No, its not an infection people read the script or listen to the Blu-ray commentary. I dont mean to be harsh but these "conspiracy fans" are always trying to make up things just so they are happy with what they didnt like. I LOVED the movie and I was expecting everything like the 'elephant-like suit' face it its a frikin suit not a Pachyderm.
The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

MemberOvomorphJan-04-2013 5:30 AMIn my version of the movie the Last Engineer clearly has the face burns when he confronts Shaw.
So the I see it the face burn is the result of the spacecraft collission.
It is curious that the LE has no helmet on during the final scenes in the safety capsule. But since he was already inside the module he may have discarded it upon entry to the mini ship.
( I guess it is even possible that the entire atmosphere on the moon was changed to support the two remaining non alien lifeforms.)
Thr Running Engineers used one in their scenes.

MemberOvomorphJan-04-2013 6:33 AMVisual mistakes like this often occur in film - hence the need for someone to constantly check "continuity" for consistency from day to day and from shot to shot. Someone dropped the ball here. In some theatrical and deleted scenes the engineer is clearly burned - in others, he isn't. I think a safe assumption is that his burns were the result of the collision and subsequent crash of the juggernaut.

MemberOvomorphJan-04-2013 9:18 AM A little bit larger picture here is that the Lst Engineer not only survived the violent crash of the spaceships..but still had the desire, the hate, the need to seek out the last human on the moon to destroy.
Finding Shaw and his eventual death was the result of his last journey.
I n thinking back he really didn't have a good time after David woke him up.
I sort of feel bad for the Engineer.

MemberOvomorphJul-01-2013 9:21 PMPrometheus detractors are funny fellas.
First, instead of trying to understand something, they are eager to accuse the filmmakers of carelessness. Why do they do that? Is it because they want to feel smarter, superior to the artists?
The Engineer has a burn in his face. He just escaped from a big, colossal spaceship which EXPLODED in the air and then fell on the surface of the planetoid/moon.
Gee, is it so hard to connect the dots?
He was hurt during the collision between the Prometheus and the Juggernault. No biggie.
Oh, there is a shot or two in which his face has no burns? Hello, ladies and gentlemen, please meet Mr. Continuity Error, a persistent dude that appears in every single movie ever made.

MemberDeaconJul-02-2013 9:20 AMWell the actual Truth of the Matter could be this.....
Like many scenes, there was much more shot than was shown and i also mean the Deleted Scenes....
the Sacrificial Scene with Elders.... There was Dialog between the one Elder and Sacrificial Engineer that never made it into the deleted Scene.
There was a alternative (or original) Fifield Scene where Weyland was in the Cargo Hold and Shaw also as she runs Fifield over. Again this did not make the movie or deleted scenes.
The Last Engineer was shot running to the Lifeboat, with no Burns and no Mask, again this never made it to the movie or deleted scenes.
And Finally The Engineer did come across some Books in Vickers Quarters and knelt down to read one, and again this is not even in the deleted Scenes.
So there is every possibility that there was a scene shot that showed HOW the Engineer got that Burn.
But like so many other scenes it was not shown not even in deleted scenes.
Ultimately Ridley was not happy with the Fight Scene between Shaw and Engineer, and they may have decided to then Shoot another Scene where the Engineer runs through the door and right away pushes Shaw.
They did this on the same day after they shot the previous deleted scene...
You see they would done a Scene where Engineer is burnt, then not liked it and re shot the scene that led up to that part only they never had time to redo the Engineers make up etc...
I BELIEVE I KNOW HOW THE BURN HAPPENED.....
You need to watch very careful and in Slow Mo... regardless of what Scene the theatrical or deleted....
When Shaw hits the Door open Scene the Engineer is burnt, before the Tentacle touches him.
But watch Carefully after when he is struggling on the floor with the Trilobite....
When Shaw is under the Engineer had then breaks free from a Tentacle of the Trilobite....
Guess what....................
Engineer is not Burnt.... not at all...
So Door opens Engineer Face Burnt, he struggles with Shaws Baby and no Burns then get to the shot of the Trilobite Mouth opening up to Face Hug the Engineer..
and he is burnt, then second latter he is not.. lol only fort split second..
Then its back to the Trilobite as it launches its mouth tentacles to attach to the Engineer and then Face Hug him, at this shot he is burnt...
Conclusion......
During the Struggle the Engineer either did something to injure the Trilobite (Maybe Bite a Tentacle thus Acid) or the Trilobite spray some Acid from the Tentacle.
But i guess for the Canon of the movie we have to go for the End Product and thus Ridley shot another scene after the full Attack Scene.
In which the Engineer was more aggressive and wanted to just harm Shaw ASP...
The Burns then put down to most likely suffered during the Crash!
When the Original Plan and Shot was they happened during the Engineer vs Squid Scene after the part where the Engineer tried to use his feet on the Door Frames to stop the Trilobite from getting to him.
