MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 10:46 AMHe was upset because they dragged his arse 2 and a half years across space to look at rocks and he didn't get to examine a single bloody one!! 'die crew mates, die!!'

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2012 5:28 PMBecause the magic black goo turned him into a monster and monsters attack people. "Hey, I'm a mutant monster now, better go fuck shit up!"

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 7:04 PMI think he was pissed that Shaw, Janek,et al didn't give him a lift back to Prometheus. Seriously, they must have driven right by him (twice) on that road, right? I guess they were a little preoccupied w/ infected Holloway, but still, I imagine Fifield dilgently crab-walking along the shoulder, trying to stick out his hitchhiking thumb to no avail. And then he's fuming to himself and muttering "we'll see who's laughing when I get back to the ship - like, in a day or two, because I can't move very fast while I'm contorted like this."

MemberOvomorphJun-14-2012 9:39 PMHere's my take on it.
The alien is seen drinking the goo, and mutates/disolves to "seed" the planet. Life grows pretty fast from these single dna strands (well fast in a universal way)....
Fast forward to the crew cracking open the "vault" of containers. Whether indiginous, or evolved over many years, there are worms in that dirt - now this part is a guess, something even the aliens didn't know. Some species of worms can be extremely hostile.
As the atmosphere hit the pods/containers they started sweating out the contents. The same goo the alien drank from the beginning. Seeding material. As the already existing worms soaked it in, it caused fast evolution. Angry hyper-evolving worms. When they entered Fifield, I'm guessing it brought in the agressive side - sort of made him like one of those zombies from 28 days later with worm dna corrupting his.
I'm also guessing that's why the alien attacked when released from his sleep pod, he was infected before going in. Like all the other aliens who died, he just happened to be smart enough or high rank enough to get into his sleep pod.
It also explains why the alien baby that was cut out was such an angry bugger, and by extention why the Alien aliens are so freaking aggressive, which also kept evolving from the goo effect.
So there is why I think he attacked. And yes, Aliens come from worms originally, like we come from a simian like creatures.
Now, all this can be extreme rubbish, but it's what I kind of theorized or, picked up on. I do find it refreshing to see a movie that doesn't spell everything out for you like almost every other movie - this one makes you think about it.

MemberOvomorphJan-18-2013 11:01 AMMy interest was in the Fifield death scene.
It loked to me like as the transporter rolled over Fifield..it paused with the wheels pinning him down onn the flor of then hanger. Then the flamethower balsrts were applied, transport drives of and the bullets start to fly.
The pausing iof the trunk on Fifield was not evident on my first viewing,,but seemed more real later.
I know that may be practical to park on top of the man but to fire blast and shoot bullets didn't seem fair!

MemberOvomorphJan-18-2013 12:05 PMThere could be many reasons.
1) Lindelof/Spaiths gave my character a stupid name
2) Ridley made me wear this ridiculous haircut and fake tats
3) The plot needed another useless bit of conflict
4) Charlize turned me down :(

MemberOvomorphJan-18-2013 2:55 PMThat scene was too fast and the alternative version is equally short, a shame and is one of the few things that disappointed me of Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphJan-18-2013 3:30 PMFor me it is curious that Fified was at the edge of the ramp, arriving undetected.
Fifield made the journey from the pryamid to the Prometheus with help.
An unseen (Engineer variation)had placed him there for a purpose because they could.

MemberOvomorphMay-08-2013 12:21 PMWhy did Fifield attack the crew? Has it occured to you that this black goo is what they use to make Xenomorphs, and that the reason Fifield looks f*cked up, and can suddenly jump around and fight like a ninja is because he is turning into a Xenomorph. He still looks mostly human outside, but look at how he acts. Totally aggressive, undeterred by being shot at or outnumbered, and killed by driving a truck over him (nod to Ripley driving over one Aliens) and flamethrower . If they'd blown him out of an airlock it probably would have been gilding the lilly...

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2017 3:35 PMI think that the black fluid turned Fifield into a variant of Xenomorph infectoid
