MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 4:04 PMThe guy i feel sorry for most is Marc Streitenfeld.
He clearly wrote a dark, partially Zimmer-inflected (is that a term?!) moody score. People clearly heard it...and had no faith. They bring in Harry Gregson-WIlliams to write some additional music, and the main track he wrote, 'Life', is the piece that runs throughout the ENTIRE movie. I mean...THE ENTIRE MOVIE?!
Anytime something spectacular is happening - 'Life' kicks in!
It's a gorgeous piece of music but - and this is coming from an aspiring composer - to see your score being sidelined by one piece of music would be such a kick in the sack!
Oh well...he got paid.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 4:15 PMThat tune sounds classic to me. Maybe too Star Trekish, though... I thought the most used track was "A Planet"

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 4:19 PMbtw, I found this mash-up for that tune (A Planet) and a track from another movie, which I found very similar. If you wanna check it out here's the link:

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 5:33 PMThat's exactly what Frankenheimer did with his epic: "Grand Prix."

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 7:38 PMI don't know why people keep complaining about the score... I love it. And yeah "Life" is one of my favorites actually, but I didn't notice it being used all the time in the movie.
