MemberOvomorphMay-30-2012 2:20 PMI truly beleive ridley has devised especially with the sequals coming forth in the future to milk money off you and drve you mad. I believe he strategically hired damon lindelof the guy who specialises in raising rhetorical questions and deceite. Where you are set on an endless journey and acheiving nothing.
I beleive so because this is based on a sci-fi, horror, survival universe nothing more based on Gigers work. Gigers work is dark and mysterious where your always wondering whats going on in all of his pieces. Gigers piece on the Pilot and the xenomorph is about a dark and ritualistic alien race where they base their grounds on CREATION, DEATH and RESURECTION.
A beliefs or practice they are devoted to that is regarded by others as strange or sinister.

MemberOvomorphMay-30-2012 2:41 PMYour right about Gigers creative process. Your also right about Lindelofs way of story telling, which always raise more questions then answers. But do you really, really think that Sir Riddley Scott hire Lindelof just for that. You could be right. I have to see the movie first to agree or disagree on Lindelof getting removed as a writer on the writing staff for Prometheus 2.

MemberOvomorphMay-30-2012 2:54 PMStrikes me as a good way of annoying your fan base, i remember that the general feeling about Lost was that by the end people were naffed off having trawled through all that waiting for some amazing answers and not getting them. I for one would sack off any future Prometheus films if this happened. I think this will be a high values production sci-fi horror style movie the likes of which we havnt seen in a long time.
the nay sayers alway go mad a few days before kick off as a way of mitigating any potential disappointment so they can reconcile over-enthusiasm, for me its a movie, nothing more or less, managing expectations is the key. Alien was seminal and the experience was colored by youth this needs to be remembered, Alien scared the poo out of me but i dont think this will as much as im 30+ now i expect to be wowed and if i do get freaked then all the better.

MemberOvomorphMay-30-2012 3:26 PMIt sounds a lot like Lindelof pulled with Prometheus the same thing he did with Lost. I watched every episode of Lost and the implications to the mysteries were always huge. The story made you feel like all the answers were just around the corner and, when you discovered them, they would blow your mind. The answers never came though, or when they did, they were silly and somewhat childish. Keep in mind that at the start Lindelof said the show was based in real science. That show ended up having smoke monsters, time travel, ghosts, potions that could make you live forever, islands that could blink out of existence, purgatory, secret societies at war with one another, and teleportation.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphMay-30-2012 3:40 PMI don't think RS is out to milk money off of us, Prometheus was a labor of love for himself and given to us fans. I do agree with your point on Giger's art, he has been very open about his work in books and interviews.
As for Lindelof, I think he lucked out getting a chance to write on the script, I hope he didn't screw it up. From the reviews I've read, it seems he did the job he was asked to do, add to the Spaihts story.
Trying to stay positive on this issue.
