MemberOvomorphMar-05-2012 10:07 PMi watched Blade Runner a few weeks ago,
such a great film and equally great world it takes place in
after all the bio-mechanical dialog exchange between Roy Batty
and Dr.Tyrell, it really did put forth the concepts of both "Ash"
from ALIEN, and "David" from PROMETHEUS to me
i did wonder, how the worlds of ALIEN / Blade Runner,
and now PROMETHEUS could factor into one another.
given that the one thing that seems to tie ALIEN into
Blade Runner are the androids / replicants
perhaps The Tyrell Corporation is a solvent stand
alone entity that is a competitor with Weyland...?
and after seeing the TED / Weyland speech, i could easily
see both Peter Weyland and Dr.Tyrell both competing to
construct a convincible android. just speculation though

MemberOvomorphMar-06-2012 1:53 AMyeah i agree, there are alot of things in blade runner that could match with the alien theme even down to the slow (wooooming) sound in the back round of both movies (most likely not related). it was illegal for the replicants to be on earth. they where biological orginisms (kinda like clones) not a cybernetic individual. and even though they where stronger they still felt pain, hence emotions, the will to survive. i think after tyrell failed weyland decided to go the mechanical route. something with less emotions more control and able to work on earth yet maybe even they got outlawed. ash was not on the nostronomo when it left for earth but then they replaced the regular guy after there pickup. maybe the company knew about the alien and knew a human science officer would have emotions and would not want to endanger his crew or himself. . could this be becuase actions from david? ...... maybe not but speculatings fun..........lol they both kinda have the same slicked back hair style too

MemberOvomorphMar-06-2012 5:05 AMWho said that are in the same universe ? I missed something ??
To me are two totally different movies , two totally different concepts , two totally different "weights" .... Its probable that Prometheus will try to fall in the middle of the two ( action + deep thoughts ) but that wont mean merging the two universes ( and if Scott try to do that it will ruin both movies )

MemberOvomorphMar-06-2012 9:18 AMThe Tyrell Corp is around 2019, way before the events that will transpire. I would think where Tyrell failed with the replicants, Weyland succeeded. In the end, with the many mishaps in the Tyrell corp, they sank or Weyland bought them out, thus becoming the successful Weyland, "Building Better Worlds".
@Frantz: it was mentioned by Scott sometime ago, I will find you the link but I remember reading how the universe is the same and Scott was interested in tying these two worlds, universes together....

MemberOvomorphApr-24-2013 6:31 PMIt is official, according to the Easter egg on Prometheus where a computer diary entry has Weyland reminiscing about how his "mentor" told him to “put away childish things then says how his mentor was on top of a pyramid, overlooking a city of angels. Pretty explicit language referencing the Tyrell Corp.
I suggest Tyrell was a either a friend or competitor (perhaps both) of the original Charles Bishop Weyland who is either the father or uncle of Peter Weyland (his death in Antarctica means his company would go to a son or other relative) in 2010 Peter Weyland would have been 10yrs old so it was most likely held in trust until he grew up. For certain the Yatuja technologies Weyland industries salvaged would have gone a long way towards creating the androids while Tyrell was pursuing a organic route.
Interestingly the Kurt Russel movie "Soldier" ties in as his character is being replaced by military model genetically modified super men, perhaps the first generation nexus 6?
