MemberPraetorianMar-03-2023 5:08 PMWhat are the characteristics of "Alien" (Xenomorph) that you don't like and like? And what is the behavior and features you like the MOST?

MemberPraetorianMar-03-2023 5:10 PMAnd also, sorry for using a DNA banner, I couldn't upload an Alien one.
Xenotaris
MemberPraetorianMar-03-2023 10:52 PMI like the xenomorph's DNA reflex, the ability for the xenomorph to take traits of the host
Cool Godzilla
MemberPraetorianMar-03-2023 11:56 PMXenotaris Oh OK
Xenotaris
MemberPraetorianMar-04-2023 10:21 AMFor an example:
Drones and by extension Warriors and Workers are birthed from Human or humanoid hosts.
Runners are birth from small quadrupedal hosts like a Dog
Predaliens are birthed from Yautja (Predators)
Eventually all these body types will lead to a Praetorian or its equivalent before maturing into a Xenomorph Queen.

MemberPraetorianMar-04-2023 8:17 PMXenotaris Drones and Runners are kinda like viruses.

MemberPraetorianMar-04-2023 8:20 PMXenomorph forms are also called stages, taking the most common xenomorph variant, the Drone as an example.
Ovomorph aka the egg is Stage I, the Facehugger is Stage II, the Chestburster is Stage III, the Drone is Stage IV, the Warrior is Stage V, the Praetorian is Stage VI, and the Queen is Stage VII
The Runner evolution is as followed, a Runner is when a xenomorph infects a quadrupedal host
Ovomorph (Stage I), the Facehugger (Stage II), the bambiburster (Stage III), the Runner (Stage IV), the Sentry (Stage V), the Crusher (Stage VI), and possibly a Queen (Stage VII)
The Predalien evolution
Ovomorph (Stage I), the Facehugger (Stage II), the predalien chestburster (Stage III), the Predalien (Stage IV), ??? (Stage V), the Predalien praetorian (Stage VI), and Predalien Queen (Stage VII)
Some xenomorphs have alternate Stage V and stage VI castes, like the drone can molt into either a Warrior or a Worker. Further more there are additional variants of the praetorian such as the Carrier and the Ravager.

Well technically all xenomorphs are like viruses.
The Drone is what you get when a human gets facehugged then later pops out a chestburster which then molts into a Drone.
The Runner is what you get when lets a Dog gets facehugged then later pops out a legged variant of a chestburster called a bambiburster which then molts into a Runner
The Predalien is what you get when a Yautja (Predator) gets facehugged then later pops out a chestburster sporting yautja mandibles which then molts into a Predalien

MemberPraetorianMar-04-2023 8:33 PMI also forgot to mention there are more advanced forms of the later Queen Stage and sometimes a Queen doesn't need to molt from a Praetorian.
The Former: A Queen can molt into a stronger subtype called an Empress, which can control the younger Queens. Above the Empress is the Queen Mother who possibly controls all of the xenomorphs.
The Later: A Queen can come from a specialized variant of facehugger called the Royal facehugger. The Royal facehugger can implant at most two hosts, one a queen and the other a regular xenomorph to act as the queen's guardian. Normal facehuggers can only implant one host.
Ovomorph (Stage I), the Royal Facehugger (Stage II), the Queen Chestburster (Stage III), ??? (Stages IV-VI) then Queen (Stage VII). Granted we never see a xenomorph chestburster ever mature to adult hood so this is speculative

MemberPraetorianMar-07-2023 12:09 AMXenotaris Thanks for the info, I now understand more about aliens now. Very Interesting.

MemberPraetorianMar-07-2023 4:45 PMCool Godzilla You are welcome. Now a praetorian has yet to appear in the movies, (unless we count the Predalien from AVPR) they were originally were exclusive to the AVP video games before appearing showing up in one of the last ALIEN comics from Dark Horse Comics.

MemberNeomorphMar-09-2023 4:11 AMMaybe introducing the queen, it makes them too close to bees, ants, and so on. I prefer egg-morphing since it's less known. Not too sure about the ridged dome either, I prefer to keep it simple.

Egg morphing sounds very bug-like thing to do too, just less ants, bees, and termites and more like a carpenter wasp. Congratulations, you traded one bug-like feature for another.

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2023 6:44 PMThe lack of eyes is one of the most striking design elements, and a thing that truly makes it scary and 'alien' to humans.

MemberNeomorphApr-10-2023 3:49 AMI know that it's a bug thing, but it's less known and therefore more alien (that's the point). If you would ask some random people if they knew about queens and how that works, and then ask them about egg-morphing, you would probably see that more people would know about the queen-version. Egg-morphing fits the franchise better since it's more alien, but the queen is alright.

MemberPraetorianApr-10-2023 7:21 PMI agree somewhat, However the eggmorphing ability has a severe drawback. You need to SACRIFICE two hosts to result a single xenomorph. The Queen gets around this by producing MULTIPLE eggs WITHOUT sacrificing a SINGLE human to make the eggs. Which results in more xenomorphs, which is not only more EFFICIENT but also in someways... in SOMEWAYS... more scary
