Well, that scene was so useless anyway.

Instead,  Ridley should have kept other more story relevant Scenes.

That kiss was such an integral scene for David, showing his developing feelings and his frustration with his inability to properly express it. The Chinese are weird lol

It's an extreme horror scene for Raging Alpha male types.

But I don't want any romance/bro-mance in any A L I E N movie...Or little children.

Some people say it is not a gay kiss, but a Judas kiss or a kiss of death, or a Blade Runner kiss, etc... But I think it's not so important...

Sexuality can be seen as a way of communication, so I think Lawrence of Arabia's comment is a very good summary of the scene in question. At the same time we shouldn't forget that David kisses Daniels as well. That's why I say that it is pointless to claim that David is gay or bi or hetero, because these scenes do not want to reveal these possibilities.

In my opinion, these scenes are there to show that David has become sexual, he has become more human.

Look at David in Prometheus, I mean look at how he is shown, look at his uniform, do you see his body? And look at David in Alien Covenant. First scene: tight uniform, muscles, upper body, leg, ass. And look at his appearance on planet 4, after the hair-cut, look at how he is shown again. You see everything, and I'm sure it was an intentional approach applied by the filmmakers. The key word is creation, David has to look sexual. And Fassbender delivers the ingredients, no doubt.

I agree with you on that. There were hints of it in Prometheus. Also, the novel elaborates on how he wants to be sexual with Daniels, and it hints that he was with Shaw. It is depicted as being against both women's wills as well, which is highly disturbing.

This is just how some Cultures are different, overall it does affect how a movie can be portrayed as having Scenes Cut for this purposes can lead to a big difference compared to Un-cut movies.

That's exactly what it was. I expected Walter's head to be crushed right after he did that. Got a death punch instead, but same intent.

I hate David killed off Walter instantly after the kiss. It's kinda pretentious to me and trying to take off the sexuality thing.

I think 90% of the people could probably care less who kisses who.

I don't recall sci-fi fans having an issue with Batty kissing Tyrell in Blade Runner?

The only kiss in the movie that should be disturbing to anyone is the one David forces on Daniels.

 - Keep in mind that Daviud has a screw loose; he's exploring his 'sexuality' which is probably just some of his code getting corrupted with 60 years of cobwebs.

Walter ain't dead... at least his chassis isn't.  Of course Sir Ridly is likely to pull another retcon and we;ll have to pretend that we didn't see this:

David has a puncture wound.  Walter does not.  The right picture shows the android back on the Covenant after they leave the planet.

Indeed its a visual clue that allows us to wonder if David transferred his mind instead.... however RS confirmed this never happened and the Hole/No Hole is a Oversight.

Which with RS we have to get used to BIG TIME... The Eyes of the Engineers in Paradise and Size etc is another one.

Well having seen the movie 3 times it came across to me that scene was a bit camp, and came across a bit comical innuendo like we was watching a Carry on Movie... a bit of Tongue in Cheek..

Was it meant to imply a Sexual innuendo? who knows.. but it does come across a bit like that... its how it was interpreted by some.... who knows if this was the intention though.. only Fassbender and RS would know.

So David did come across a bit Camp....  like in the video i linked LOL

I think it was a bit too much, but then it kind of allowed Fassbender to explore a new role with David, one where he seems to be getting in touch with his Sexuality, which i know kind of does not sit well with some fans.. and there is certainly no need for any Homophobic Comments towards him, but certainly he was portrayed as a confused robot.. whos Emotions are getting out of control.

And i think in part you have to applaud some of these changes they made to the Character... very risky route and it did kind of bring a Camp side to David which i felt was interesting to a degree.... but somethings may have came across a bit comical..

PS i have nothing against Camp-ness... i am actually fond of a lot of Camp Artist and i find Guy Pearce's Pricilla Queen of the Desert a very entertaining movie...

There was defintely some intentional campiness with his character. They seemed to be having fun with that aspect of him. David was even delivering several one-liners in the movie (Don't let the bed bugs bite). There were even a few more one liners in the book, so they must have thought it was a bit too camp and pulled back on them.
