Is there any hope for the prequels?

Some read the Synopsis as maybe not being Paradise, but maybe LV-223 or LV-426 and the Covenant being a ship set to explore that place.... but i would assume the company would know about Prometheus and not hearing from it, and i cant see it being a coinsidence that the Colony Ship heads to that system.....

Also some thought it must be that the Covenant picks up the signal from LV-223 and is on a intercept course with the Ship David and Shaw are on... i was always on the side that this makes little sense, as we have to assume Engineer Ships can traverse Space far greater Speeds than Earth Ships in the year 2100 or abouts.

And the whole Human Ship getting re-directed to encounter a World which harbinges Xeno Life Forms has been done in Alien.... especially if the ship has a Android on board.... who knows more than the Crew Do.....  however Star Wars Force Awakens is not to much different from A New Hope... so how knows....

Nope for me the Covenant was expecting to find Uncharted Paradise, which means a World that is very Earth Like, a Perfect Place for a Colony to set up on... without any Terraforming... And thus a mission set off to a potential Earth Like World that had been detected and surveyed as having the potential to be a Paradise... the Crew are then into Cryo-Sleep like Prometheus and set off on a Long Journey to reach this World... only when they come out of FTL Travel, they arrive in the system of that World and it is no longer a Paradise....  I assumed the movie would have to be set way after Prometheus by the time this Colony Crew Arrive so as to not step on the toes of Alien and Aliens...  or the ship would have had to had set off on its mission many years before Prometheus...  AND SO... do not have any idea about the events of Prometheus... as far as the Disaster that had happened... or if they knew the Ship was lost they would not know every detail....

As lets face it if they did, then the crew of the Covenant would be more cautious upon finding David on his own, especially if they received Shaws SOS and then wander where is she?  I mean are they going to give us a Stupid Crew again?  and so they must not be aware of the Engineers and the Evil Biological Weapons they have a hand in.

Then after this route that i interpreted as whats going on, we get information about the movie being set 10 years after Prometheus....  and so something similar to what i assumed must be the case.

We have to consider also... are they going to ignore all the points that was made prior to the Alien: Coveant name change (see my post before) i cant be sure.... but Ridley had even after this name change said..

*They are going to the planet of the Engineers.

*There is a scene of Disaster.

*They find a Dark and ominous world.

*We shall be shown who made the Beast (Xeno) and why, and its hinted that when they say.. "they're" they mean the Covenant Crew, and David?  and when they say "they" as in who created the Beast they mean the Engineers or their Biolology (David could use).

And we need to think there is going to be at least 5 hours of Movie time before we get to Alien and the Answers... there is 3 movies and are these going to follow the Covenant crew and what goes down in the 18 years prior to Alien?

I doubt it.... for them to sugest that the World is Dark and Dangerous, and yet a Paradise was expected... i think the World was more of a Paradise years ago, maybe before David arrived? as 10 years and a Engineer Ship with a Cargo (that Ridley said a long time ago was Hell he was bringing with him).  or it could have been a disaster when David arrives.

Remember... we can detect far away Stars now, and then Potential Planets by looking at how the light from a star flickers....  we could detect thus via our primative systems compared to Prometheus... we could in theory determine a Star some say 400 Light years away that appears to have multiple planets traverse the stars path between us.....  If this Star went Super Nova and thus destroyed those planets too then we would not know about it for 400 years.

So if we set off a ship to that System and the Crew was in Cryo Sleep on a 400 Light year Journey and then 50 years into that journey that Star had Super Nova, then if this ship does not wake the crew up untill they reach the co-ordinants....  then they would find Nothing... just the aftermath of a Super Nova that occuried 350 years prior... well you get the picture.

So yes there is the potential to show a World that is Lush and a Paradise in one, Scene and then Dark and Desolate in another.....

Prometheus had Flash Back of the Sacrifical Scene... we could see similar... and what if this scene shows us in part the Disaster that befell Paradise and the Xeno.... this would give us clues to the Origin set thousands of years ago and so would not contradict LV-223 or LV-426.

They are re-introducing the Xeno... so maybe David discovers the aftermath of thousands of years ago... and this is how we get the Xeno Re-introduced.....  as well Alien we first saw the Xeno..... Aliens it was Re-introduced.

I think this would be more ideal, and i would also hope that the Re-introduction allows for a Fresher and Different Organism....

Finally.... i think there is more to the Name than just for namesakes....

Prometheus was more than a ships name.... if you look at the 2023 TED Talk, and look deep at the clues in Prometheus and then study the Myth of the Titan Prometheus.....  then you can make a connection that the Name has a bearing on what may have gone down...

i.e The Engineers or a Faction or One Bieng above the Engineers, created Mankind, but then they also taught Mankind things that the other Gods/Faction did not intend for us.  And then the Titan was punished.  I can go deeper into this but i already had in the past.... (my theory is the Fresco was not Adam and God Cistine Chapel but the Fresco of Prometheus tied to the Rock instead).

So Covenant has to play some role.....   Covenant means a Pact, a Agreement usually with regards to reframe from something in future...  In the Biblical Terms its usually a Pact made between God and Mankind....

I think this is something we shall be shown....  i would assume... it is either.

*A agreement between David and the Engineers. (or Shaw and Engineers).

*A agreement in the past between Engineers and its actions against Mankind.

*A agreement in the past between rival Engineers or Engineers and creators.

I am going to sugest that i cant see them abandon the Engineers and Shaws Answers, i cant see them going the route that the Engineers are gone... all gone... the Last Engineer in Prometheus was the Last of his Kind,  and the Space Jockey the one before him.

Ridley had hinted that the Engineers are not top of the Hierarchy are we to just go with the notion that none of those survived?  

Ridley had hinted the Engineers created life elsewhere, the Star Map on the Juggernaught shows other Galaxies... are we to assume these beings and their creators are just going to seed Life in just our Galaxy... and they are all gone..?

BUT IF THEY ARE NOT ALL GONE?

Why had they not came back to Earth, why not try to destroy us?

I think the Answer is Simple.......  they decided or had agreed it was not worth the hassle, maybe the cost to their Empire as it backfired,  or a rebelion and War between themselves. Something had happened to diminish most of their Empire...

Maybe this is the case... or not.....  and the Engineers and their creators are numerous.. but why have they not came back....

Either of the above i think the Answer is that they had made a Decision a COVENANT to leave us alone!

This is where i think Covenant will loosely connect... towards the Engineers/their Creators and the History of a Event related to them in the Past..... just as loosely Prometheus Myth also linked to a Event in their past.

I guess at this stage we just don't know enough. but I amvery careful of trusting anything at this stage

There certainly is hope for the series but this is the one that will make or break it.

If it fails as a Alien movie... and really seeing Xenos, does not attract the big bucks... or its not done in the right way and fans are disapointed... then its pretty much hard for them to Follow up with another Alien Origins Sequel.... and also if the movie does not do well.... and fans not as interested or this movie flops a bit... then also i think it would be wave bye bye to ever discovering more about the Engineers...

So i agree it has to be done the RIGHT way, i had discused why maybe a so called U-Turn made sense... to cash in on the antisipation of Alien 5 over Prometheus 2 and give us more Xeno related movie... that gives more clues sooner rather than latter.... and then leaves latter to focus on the Engineers.

As a huge fan of Prometheus, I cannot feel negative about the film. I was very sceptical when I heard that Noomi Rapace won't be in the sequel and the fact that Prometheus 2 will take place 10 years later. Years ago Ridley said that it will be a direct sequel. Of course it has a more huge feeling if it takes a decade later with a new cast, but we won't know what happened on the journey to Paradise. I hope it is like the Godfather sequel. It tells a sequel-story but also a prequel-story. However, we still have two more sequels that hopefully will give us more answers. But I don't have a clue what story will be told in the two other sequels. But also the change of the title feels strange. Prometheus was a prequel-spin-off about the origin of the Aliens but also of the humans. I hope the story-element of 'how and why' the engineers wanted to destroy mankind won't be lost. That was a very important question Shaw asked herself at the end of Prometheus. After all, I'm still very excited.
