MemberDeaconMar-31-2014 7:29 AMThis is very interesting and we have to assume that they had a lot of contact with Fox and Ridley as far as relation to the franchise goes....
While this movie may not be direct canon, as far as this place they are on may not actually happen in line with the movies... so its like a alternative reality. (M-theory)
I do think what they find could link to the purpose of the origins of the Black Goo.
This brings the question.... does this comic try and show us...
1) The place the Goo had come from?
2) A place that the Goo had been used on?
The plant life seems to have to some degree a Giger/Xeno look to it and also it seems to have the look of a DNA strand to it, could this mean that these Plants produce the Goo that is the base for all DNA? The Tool for Creation?
Or are these plants mutated or come from the Goo?
Very interesting images and we see that there appears to be Carnivorous Plants in the pool/lake that has the Goo... why are these plants growing in this substance? Could these plants actually capture some kinds of life and break them down and the results go into the pool to produce the Goo?

MemberDeaconApr-01-2014 6:41 AMI think the clues in this book could be close to what we would find out in Paradise, i.e if the Goo is connected to plant life in this comic then i think it would likewise be the same when we get to Paradise release.
But as far as being direct canon to the events of the movies then i am not so sure.
This place can not be LV 223 as LV 223 looked baron to a degree but we cant rule it out i guess, but i dont think they would try and set the comic on LV 223 or LV 426 (even more baron). Unless the comic is set after Prometheus but before a return mission so this comic is the return mission but to be honest why do that if potentially Paradise could be part set on LV 223.
I think we also can rule out that the comic is set on Paradise, unless its after Shaw and David arrive there.
We have to remember the crew in this comic do not have a clue as to what this Black Goo is, and surely if its after a return mission to LV 223 then surely the company would know something off the Goo. Unless off course the Company are using the crew to their Agenda to see what happens when they are infected with the Goo.
But i would assume what we have here is either a exploration mission has come across a new World and they set down to explore it and unknown to them its a place that either produces the Goo, or a place that the Goo has been deployed on.
Or the company has at some point managed to find the location of a World these Engineers had tested the Weapon on and have sent a team to investigate but not told the team all they knew.... like with the Nostromo crew.
so maybe it could be set on one of the Test Worlds.. as in this Weyland File.
To me this would make more logical sense than it being set on LV 223 or Paradise in which the 2nd movie would most likely cover.

MemberDeaconApr-08-2014 9:40 AMIs it me or does the Organism that the crew find the remains of in this comic seem a lot like the Predators Tracker Hounds? While not exactly the same they have similar look, so while a Cow, Horse and Sheep are different they do have similar traits.
Then again the Comics do not have to be Canon, they are in same universe but alternative, and Dark Horse is making some connection with Engineers to AVP Series.
So maybe this could simply show that the Engineers used the Goo Bio-Weapon on a Predator World? Only as far as Comic Canon goes. not the Movies.
