Yer bit scarey :O I can just imagine what happens if the shoe gets a disease or causes problems with your skin...I wonder...very engineerish. This merging and bluring of boundaries is starting everwere now - got to be careful! 

Inflatable butt cheeks would be great! I spend so much time sitting on them that they often go numb,, so yeah, an inflatable ars would be good! :D  

Yeah Its amazing and terrifying at the same time . The synthetic skin could bond with yours then you would become one with your synthetic layer . Maybe more robust exoskeleton could be grown which could fight off any foreign body , the people who designed the skin already stated that it regenerates when returned to a jar filled with living liquid protocell maybe the liquid could scrub out any impurities.

Thank you for the clip of the phone and the self healing polymer . It just makes you think if we are coming out with technology like this now just imagine what its going to be like in the next 80 years . My mind is offiically blown.

Some very interesting things and yes that could be similar to the Engineers suits..

I watch something interesting last night one of Morgan Freemans through the Worm Hole series.

This one was about would sex become extinct  and that Science has created a Artificial Womb, basically they take fertilised Eggs and grow the Embryos of a Shark in a tank that acts like the womb..

Then they had a segment on how you dont need a womb to grow a baby and that you just need a Egg and Sperm and you can grow them inside a artificial Womb.

Then they went further and showed that with stem cell research not only can they prevent some genetic disorders and by sometimes having 3 parents DNA... But they could go futher to produce all the tools needed for life from one SEX.

And that at the moment the Y chromosome is more complicated  but they could create a female Egg from Stem Cell Research, it went on to say that there could be no need for a female as we could create Eggs then fertilise them with Male Sperm and Grow them inside a artificial womb.... as creating a sperm from stem cell is difficult.

This shows that should all females die out, then mankind could still procreate.

Could this be similar to what the Engineers or Elders had done, somehow due to manipulating their genes or going route of not having to have sex to procreate they lost the ability to create life that way... i.e no more females?

They then went on to show how Stem Cells can be used to not only be used on same races by creating something from a certain species i.e a Sperm or Egg... but they can also hybrid organisms.

They showed how one Scientist has harvested a Spiders Silk, as this can be the strongest and flexible material for construction. What they did is take some stem cells and DNA from the Spider but only the ones that produce the Silk, and they added it to a Embryo of a Cow to replace or be part of how the Cow Produces Milk.

They then had Cows that when milked there milk also produced Spider Silk.

This just shows the application of genetic research and as i have said on another topic ages ago, if we took away the ethical implications and if we invested as much into this research as the governments do in finding and getting Oil and Gas and Military then there would be no telling how far science could go in 50 years.

Could the Engineers had done similar, and that they used the Xeno in a similar way to create their Bio Tech from it?

Truly amazing , thank you BigDave it just goes to show how far and advanced we could get and this is just the things we are being told about . Who Knows what fringe science is going on behind the scenes . We could become  a asexual race with characteristics of both sexs or indeeed like the engineers .

Hmm I often find almost ever prediction does not happen least in the way we think it will...and that self healing mobile isnt a crazy as you think - if u watch tge video it only reduces the scratches a bit. But yes I have heard of smart materials n stuff in the works. The organic computers scare me. Because people are getting sick of computers crashing and that could be a solution and what if computers can learn -eek hal n terminator time!

I also heard to have true smart materials they will need organic or tech nano technology as in nano bots and thats a power more powerful than nuclear weapons :O .

All this stuff just reminds me of that amazing film forbidden planet. More power equals greater good and greater bad as well in equal amounts...

Well we have seen some Bio Tech and Improvments, such as OLED Screens, they was brighter and better and faster than LED LCDs they did not use much power and was smaller and lighter so could be used to make thiner displays....

But the downside is some developed screen rot which basically means as they are made from organic material some of them could get like a mold infection.

Tech is advancing far, and there are many versions of Cloaking Devices in the works.... one is using a man made fibre/material that has a circuit inside and this circuit produces like a magnetic disturbance so that where light rays are bounced off a object and its the light waves that reflect back that causes us to see, these rays are instead absorbed well kind of so that they do not reflect back...... 

Another Tech is that bends light, and others that cause the object to take on colour reflection outside the Human Spectrum i.e like Infrared.... like some Stars can not be seen by our Eyes and only vissible to Infrared Cameras.

So i think some kind of practicle cloak could be real in like 20 years.
