AdminPraetorianOct-29-2013 11:18 AMStarBeast is Dan O'bannon's original script for 'Alien" and some of the unused ideas from that script were used in Prometheus. A couple good examples of concepts from StarBeast being used in Prometheus are Fifield's 'Pups', they were to be called 'Mice' and bridge of the Prometheus is based on an early Ron Cobb design. Go look on xeno_alpha_07's blog, he has everything you can ask for about 'Alien' there. Here is a copy of the StarBeast script: ALIEN(project formerly titled STARBEAST
Here, I searched his blog for you and found a StarBeast reference, you will have to search for others. :) weyland-yutaniarchives
[i]I wanted to have small flying objects, like sensors, which flew up and down the corridors. They would find a problem, stop by a computer bank and fix it like little handymen. I wanted to call them 'Mice'. At the beginning of the film they would be the only things that were alive on the ship. We'd have shot a long empty corridor so you'd hear them coming before you actually saw them. Then WHOOSH! It would pass by the camera, going through the corridor. I think FOX felt it was too much int he direction of SF, and we dropped it.

I believe it is real.
There are a few notes I would like to make:
1
The scene where broussard removes his oxygen mask inside the temple is probably where the idea came from for holloway to remove his helmet. And as holloway he had confirmation that the air was breathable.
2
Standard indicates that the temple were made by some one other then the skeleton creature found inside the derelict. But the point here is that is probably as in p1 that whoever found and brought these spores to this planet as they knew how dangerous it was and didn't want to experiment with it at their own world. It seems the planet maybe once habitat ed life but perhaps the content of the pyramid destroyed it. So their is another race of beings behind the building of the pyramid that is not the same as the skeletal being fiund inside the derelict.
3
there seems to be people turning into spores(black leathery glossy urns) so the life cycle is spore( urns) - octopus facehugger - worm - adult worm thing
And then it all starts again as the victims gets cocooned and begins to morph.
4
A lot of what was in this script was used in aliens. The nerve gas idea came from this script.
The cooling towers being ruptured came from shutting down the snarks engine cooling system. The tracker device getting blurred reading because of the creating being above or below them and the interference oif the structure. This probably where the idea came from for the break in communication between fifield and milburn and he rest of the group as brousard couldn't be reached by radio while he was inside the temple.
So was the scenes in side the air ducts as there are many scenes with air ducts and one in particular where they get the young alien trapped.
So yes many ideas and concepts are now clear to me.
A definite read for anyone.
Sp perhaps spaihts idea of the Octopoid facehugger was a weaponised facehugger was perhaps his own idea and not ridleys.

AdminPraetorianOct-29-2013 11:36 AMYes that's the same one I linked, it's real. Some of the ideas are original from Spaiths, not everything in Prometheus was taken from StarBeast, just some unused concepts they never were able to add to 'Alien' at the time. :)
It is amazing though how much of StarBeast is in Prometheus, and I have said that on many an occasion, but people hear what they want to hear and a lot of the time it's ignored. Strange huh. Anyways so glad you brought the subject up. And yes I agree with you, StarBeast IS a must read for anyone that is a fan of Prometheus, or 'Alien' in general. :)

Thx
I will look for all scripts possible because they show you what the writers idea and concept was.
I wish I knew this a year ago.

MemberXenomorphNov-10-2013 1:11 PMPlease note I have come by 2 other scripts for alien. I am not at liberty to tell how and where I got these scripts. So you will have to take my word for it. The 2 scripts that are linked here and at alien experience are the starbeast (1976) script anf the june 1978 draft of alien . I have come by an unmarked draft of early 1978 and a final revised draft 4 oct 1978.
if have come to an understanding as to why lambert asks where the rest of the crew is . In the unmarked draft of early 1978 the ship they found was actually of earth origins a L-52 type ship. It has a human crew and they thought the rest of the crew were in some kind of underground bunker that was man made. They simply threw that into alien even after they decided to make the ship a derelict of alien origin. So it was simply used it out of place in alien to to create confusion.

MemberXenomorphNov-10-2013 1:19 PMIn the 4 o0t 1978 draft lambert reports to ripley that they didn't find any crew members also but this happened on the nostromo after they brought cane back.
