MemberOvomorphSep-29-2013 5:22 AMThe other day I was watching a doco on the making of the movie called "the shining". During this doco, one of the people being interviewed stated that stanley kubrick made the footage of a fake mooning.
There were quite a few points that he made
1. The room number that they were staying in was 237 (in the book it was 219), this was apprently a referance a the distance between the earth and the moon.
2. The child in the film was wearing an apollo 11 jersey.
3. In the month there was a shot of a set of twin girl. This was supposed to be a referance to the gemini program.
4. Jake the charactor in the film repeativly wrote with the type writer "all work and no play, made jake a dull boy". He stated tha the "all" in the sentence was a reference to Apollo 11 (a-ll).
5. One of the film techniques that stanley uses in this film making is called 'rear projection'. On the final print of the film (using this technique) it leaves a mark, sort of like a blurred meteor. This is on some of the moon landing photos.
There are a few others.....I think its not true, but I must say i like the theory..

MemberPraetorianSep-30-2013 4:08 AMI've read much about this theory Pulse. In a nutshell, it's rumoured that Kubrick wanted the use of a new lens NASA had developed, and that they agreed on condition that he filmed the 'faked' landings.
It's all conjecture, but Kubrick could certainly have pulled it off!! LOL

AdminPraetorianSep-30-2013 10:33 AMThose are great links, thanks Lone!! I never really understood why so many achievement humans have made are attributed to Aliens or called a fraud by certain groups of people. Is it so hard to believe we humans are capable of awesome things??

MemberOvomorphOct-01-2013 6:51 AMI remember seeing an episode of mythbusters where the were discussing the whole 2 sources of light issue. It was suggested that in some of the photos of the moon landing there 'must' of been 2 sources of light. Since the shadows cast by 2 rocks go in two slightly different directions. This must of been caused by 2 sources of light....apparently. The crew from mythbusters did an experiment with uneven surfaces and they snapped a few shot themselves. From their photos it showed that on uneven ground shadows can go in slightly different directions. When you see the the supposed fake moonlanding photo,can see that it is on uneven ground.....
Also if you shine 2 light sources on a single object, it will cast two shadows.

MemberFacehuggerOct-01-2013 12:13 PMWith regard to the photos taken back then. ISO sensitivity is not what it is today, and the camera settings were made to capture the foreground, which is why there appears to be black backgrounds.
