Sorry the link didn't work on the original post so posted the 2 links above. I think the configuration of the 6 stars in the invitation go as follows: 3 stars to the left, from the top to the bottom; Sol, 82 Eridani, Gliese 86. 3 stars to the right, from top to bottom; Alpha Mensae, Zeta 1 Reticuli, Zeta 2 Reticuli. If this is correct then the engineer is either pointing to Zeta 1 Reticuli or going to grab Zeta 2 Reticuli? Like David grabbed Earth in the hologram? Is that configuration correct?

@D-Face. Thanx for the link, it was very informative. Unfortunately, when it comes to Astronomy, i'm like a chimpanze in an art gallery! However, I do know that one of the debates about PROMETHEUS is, are they (the human crew) in the right place. I know that LV 223 is supposed to be in Zeta 2 Reticuli, but to me it looks like the humanoid in the "invitation" is pointing to Zeta 1 Reticuli? I don't understand what "Binary" means? Does it mean that Zeta 1 and Zeta 2 Reticuli are 2 Stars in the same star system? Please forgive my ignorance, I want to learn!

Yeah, a binary star system basically means "two stars in the same system" and that means the planets there have two rising and setting suns.

So Zeta 1 and Zeta 2 are very close to each other. Very interesting.

We have to remember the Prometheus Star Map is based off the Zeta Reticuli incident Which is a Star Map that abducties Betty and Barney Hill had drawn from when they was alleged to had been abducted in the 1960s We have to remember that Space is 3D and while a configuration may appear to look as such from one point from another it would look totally different. Also this Star Map does match Prometheus one, in which case the Engineer was pointing to Alpha Mensae which has no planets only a Red Dwarf companion. Also the Betty and Barney Star Map has Earths Sun (Sol) in it so the Prometheus Star map does not show a view of the system they was pointing to from Earth as from Earth they would not line up like that. The distances to add up to those proposed by Prometheus but looking at the System in Prometheus the closest that has planet like the one we see in Alien and Aliens is either Gliese 86 or 82 Eridani
