MemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 11:09 AMHi!
So i was watching Prometheus today, and i found this

For me, these two look similar to each other.
What do you think?
Just look at their body shapes and at those "lines/pipes" on their back, belly!
Can you imagine this creature as the engineers' "dogs" or minions?
For example, imagine if many many many thousand years ago, they not only took humans, but took animals (wolfs, etc.) with them, and tried their weapon, or black goo on them!
I can imagine this creature running after Shaw in Prometheus 2
What is your opinion?
ZetaReticuli
MemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 1:52 PMMaybe some genetic hybrid as often theorised in the 'Ancient Aliens' series. I love these Ridley riddles and mysteries.
Fleshvessel
MemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 3:29 PMI really hope to see it too! I agree the ribs on the cave drawing are suspect.
It definitely shares some Xeno traits as well. Black Goo + Wolves or something- interesting theory, i like it.

MemberNeomorphJul-05-2013 7:29 PMI agree, there are similarities there. The mural creature also looks a lot like this:

But the creature in the mural from PROMETHEUS looks biomechanical. I have no idea what it is.
The poster was good though!
Anunnaki50
MemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 8:04 PMIts just a cave painting of a Cavebear I dont think there's a connection maybe who knows.
The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno
Visionary Alpha
MemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 9:12 PMI once speculated it is more of a horse, a mount ridden by the engineers.
Batchpool
MemberFacehuggerJul-05-2013 9:36 PMI think it is an original puppy space jockey from the original alien, and that is the missing link that could go a long way to answering what the big guy was in the chair in the original Alien. That's just an opinion.
Nice find btw.

MemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 10:11 PMYour suggest would indicate that the creature in the lower picture you posted was on earth at some stage. If early humans painted a picture of it, they must of seen it.
Regarding the lower pic. Is the engineer pushing it away or fending it off?
"how do you feel?"-" great, next stupid question"

MemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 10:13 PMRegarding top pic. Below where you circled, there looks like to be a pair of hands. or is it just me?

Community ExecutiveMemberOvomorphJul-05-2013 10:40 PMis just a cow, or maybe is our ancient human telling us ´´ if you go there you will return as the half of the animal you are.'' who knows.
The world will spin well past our last breath, but I will always care about you

MemberOvomorphJul-06-2013 12:49 AMOr maybe it's just a warning saying: "We are creating horrible monsters in these coordinates." Then the theory of the factions can still be prosible, because in that case some Engineers want to warn mankind about the fate.
@**Al** good one.
123Engineer
MemberFacehuggerJul-07-2013 5:54 AMI agree shambs. The engineers are warning them. But the mankind couldn't fly there at this time. Why are they warning them? Maybe because if they warn us later we are possible to follow them. But the engineers left the starmap. Why? They should have known that we are able to create a spaceship and go there because we are curious. Maybe they forgot us... Thats why the engineer in the hybernation pod was so surprised.
Can't wait for the sequel ^^
Visionary Alpha
MemberOvomorphJul-08-2013 7:33 PMSome humans at that time must have been permitted star travel.

MemberDeaconJul-09-2013 5:05 AMIt has some similarities to this Prometheus Concept Prop/Art Work

By that i mean the body proportions....
Also this Mural is reminiscent of the Sistine Chapels, God and Adam....
So it could show the Engineers as creator and God and this creature as one of its creations.... or maybe their End Game...
The creatures pose is one that shows it to be submissive to the Engineer... The Engineers were angered by Mankind as we was no longer subservient to them...
Maybe this Mural shows a previous creation, or maybe the actual final product should the Black Goo in the Urns be dropped on Mankind?

MemberOvomorphJul-10-2013 3:56 PMSo I read that entire article BigDave posted on the other thread...... I thought this section of the article semi-pertained to this convo
"In the original script the Jockey was merely a planetary explorer, and his ship a research vessel of sorts, and not a carrier of biological warfare as suggested in the movie. The Jockey and the Alien were two completely unrelated alien species, with the former simply serving to forewarn the audience, and the Snark crewmen, that something deadly was lying in wait—a warning that the human explorers ignore to their peril. O’Bannon’s original conception of the Alien race was not that of a deadly bioweapon. Instead they were an ancient, cultured, yet annihilated race. “The planetoid was now dead,” O’Bannon explained, “and this civilization had been gone for millions of years.” This “unique race” sported a strange, apparently religion-based reproductive system that necessitated three sexual partners—two consensual, one sacrificial. The reproductive process was undertaken within pyramid structures.
&
"“In Dan’s original conception the Alien race had three entirely different stages of its life-cycle,” Ron Cobb explained when talking of the purpose of the pyramid. The Alien eggs are tended to “by the third stage adults and housed in a lower chamber of the breeding temple. When ready to hatch, the egg is placed in the middle of a sacrificial stone and a lower animal, the equivalent of an alien cow, is then led on to the stone. Sensing the warmth, the facehugger springs out, attaches itself to the animal and deposits a foetus into the stomach.” At some point in the planetoid’s history, a “cataclysm causes the extermination of the adults … leaving no one to tend and nurture the young. But in a dark lower chamber of the breeding temple a large number of eggs lie dormant, waiting to sense something warm …”

Yes and dont forget this Mural for Prometheus....

This was a concept by Giger, and the Art Department but we only really fully saw the Deacon Mural and Face Hugged Engineers Mural on the other Tomb Door and the Engineer and its creation like the God and Adam Fresco...
This Egg and Xeno one was in the movie but we only get a quick glance is its was degrading, after David touches the leaking Goo from a Urn and says "Organic" We pan to Shaw shine her torch on the above Fresco/Mural and then notes they are changing...
All you can make it is some parts of Xeno hands holding something.... But it is the above Fresco only in the movie by the time we see it, its started to disintegrate.
Could this hint to that above passage, that Xeno attends to the young Eggs?
Surely its appearance even only for a short time and only shown as it is breaking apart, should mean a connection between Egg and Xeno and thus...
Urns dont Evolve into Eggs?

MemberDeaconJul-11-2013 11:33 AMAlso when looking at the Xeno holding the Egg...
Its hand are more of the 1986 Xeno than the 1979 one...
Also found this.... a Memorial to the Xeno in Russia

Certainly has some similarities to the Deacon Mural in Prometheus if we interpret what looks like the Crown of the Queen above it.
Mind you too me i always saw that Mural as seeming to Show what looks a bit like Shaws Baby the Trilobite above the Deacon, and down the sides what looks like a Engineers being Face Hugged by what appears to be similar to Traditional Face Hugger and above those Face Hugged Engineers i can make out what kind of looks like the creature in the Fresco with the Engineer in a pose like God and Adam one at the Sistine Chapel.
