MemberOvomorphApr-09-2013 3:18 AMit's the opening scene of Prometheus, where a Sacrifice Engineer is seeding a planet with his amazing DNA.
I always thought it was a copout not to date/place the scene, as happens a couple minutes later with the Prometheus ship reveal just outside the LV-system.
For me, however, it might have been 'more intriguing' if this opening 'sacrifice' scene wasn't a) some sort of 'punishment' scene and b) on a planet in another star galaxy.
THEN, wait for this, THEN the whole thing could have been a 'proper' Adam & Eve moment when the first escapee from the Humanoid Farm made its way to Earth and founded his own planetary kingdom. I still think there's a 'clever way' to include the landing of the Derelict on LV-426.
It most certainly was NOT A CRASH LANDING and who's to say the original Space Trucker giant (or his slave humanoid crew) weren't PICKING UP eggs from the surface of the xeno'd planet? You know, and something 'went wrong'?
I know I've talked about this being (maybe) Peter Weyland in 2001 as a kid, but there's potential that an ORIGINAL SINNER came to earth 'thousands of years earlier' when proto-humanoids were around and made his home among their number, adding his genetic-galactic contribution to the local mix.
There's talk, on the internet, of Rebooting Alien so it 'fits with the Prometheus film' but I'm not really a big fan of some of the creative decisions in that story (nor the script) and would prefer a PROMETHEUS REBOOT where the original Space Jockey race are going about the universe millions of years earlier, and one of their humanoid-seeded experiments escapes to Earth to 'be among the animals' of the garden.
Call it EDEN.

Indeed. Here is a video where Ridley Scott says the Derelict "parked" not crash landed. He also says that Prometheus is a whole new storyline and that he wanted to re-charge the franchise into something else. The good stuff starts at 15:32 minutes into the interview.

MemberChestbursterApr-09-2013 6:20 PMAlthough it didn't crash, I think that the ship wasn't picking up the "cargo." he already had it, but had a reason, maybe not even emergency to land it there

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2013 6:56 PMMaybe he had to transport the eggs to another ship and somehow he was possibly going to rendevous with another ship. He also could have been just making an emergency landing because maybe something came loose and he needed to crossover into the egg chamber to fix a "leak" or to adjust something. While he was doing that and trying not to upset the eggs he made an error and one opened and it attatched to his face. He then collapsed and when he woke up he ran back to the pilot chair and sent out a distress call and warn anyone who may come by. So he went back into the pilot seat and hooked himself back up and just waited for death until the Nostromo came by.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2013 7:36 PMThe studio in order to satisfy, both camps: the ones that want an alien story line, and those that want a Engineer story line may opt for an idea where, in addition to the Engineers wanting to wipe out humanity with a virulent biological organism like the Aliens. They were actually developing the Aliens to wipe out another intergalactic species they have been waring with for a millennium. Dropping the Alien species on Earth was simply designed as a field test for their new biological weapon they intended on using against their hated rivals. When the the woman who was the last survivor of the last movie goes to visit the Engineers home world she finds a place of complete desolation due to a final conflagration between the Engineers and their intergalactic enemies. The Woman from the last movies will be watching videos of Aliens that the rivals captured and altered a bit to use against the Engineers on their home world. This may provide a good opening for a new story, and could be expanded upon in various directions. Their are no limits to story telling, except not having an imagination.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2013 3:12 AMSee, you ALL KNOW there's 'more then enough' story for a Pre-Alien Reboot - Prometheus was an 'honourable attempt' but the politics of cinema got in the way, the politics of celebrity got in the way, the politics of global policy got in the way.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2013 11:42 PMYeah it happens in movies where the studio loses sight of the vision and only thinks about money. Its like nowaday every single politician and accountant want that instant gratification instead of waiting for the better outcome.
