Just a couple of thoughts as 'milk and cookies kept me awake' Prometheus is set in the alien/bladerunner universeas Ridley has stated, so in bladerunner replicants/robots are banned from Earth meaning that david was made offworld unless Weyland like Tyrell broke the rules. But lets say that David has not been to Earth he is not free as Dr Shaw noted, has no love of his makers, all but Elizabeth treat him as a glorified toaster. David has no desire to see Earth. My point is how do we know that it is the engineers mandate to destroy Earth, we know that david held the earth in the orrey but is it not possible that he is programing the engineers ship. David watches Elizabeths dreams and is even seen in her dream, David comunicates with Weyland who is in hypersleep and we know that he can operate the Juggernaut . Another thought concerns Vickers. Sir Ridley hinted that there may be two Replicants and yes I have read the 'is she isn't she' threads many surrounding the idear that her blood/fluid would be red or blue but if weyland wanted a Rachel 'more human than human' then the fluid would be red and she gets to visit Earth as a corperate suit. Weyland seems to dislike her because she is so like him. It would be nice to know if Weyland had a wife that looks like Vickers. Anyway hope the thoughts aren't to dull and I would like to know what others think. Love to all. Mike & Ruth

"Prometheus is set in the alien/bladerunner universeas Ridley has stated"~ plume1066 Ridely never said that, he's remained famously quiet on the subject actually. What did happen is a extra little easter egg was put on the DVD by a guy Charles de Lauzirika for fun. Its not set in the Blade Runner universe at all. :D Here is a direct quote from Charles de Lauzirika, the man who created the supposed communique written by Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce), which made some pretty obvious allusions to Blade Runner's Eldon Tyrell. He apparently got the idea from fans online trying to connect the dots between the two acclaimed sci-fi universes, and thought he would have a little fun to see if anyone would catch on. Of course, everyone did: "That was me having fun and being cutesy. I wrote all that stuff. I actually said this at the press conference they had in London, which is that if it's in the film, it's canon. I would argue that the viral pieces that are included in the Peter Weyland Files are canon just because they originated with Ridley and Damon Lindelof. I would say those, to some degree, are canon. But anything else - especially these which are kind of like little cute, embedded text graphics on the menus - I wouldn't take those too seriously. It's just meant to be an in-universe framework for those viral pieces." "As a Blade Runner fan, and because there's been so much talk before this even occurred with people on the Internet speculating that maybe Alien and Blade Runner and Prometheus could all exist in the same universe, it was just more of a wink at that. Absolutely nothing to be taken seriously. I mean, I sent it to Ridley and he had no comment. [Laughs] So, it's just icing on top of icing. It's not the cake. It's a fun, little side thing that's very superficial. And, by the way, it in no way officially establishes that it's Blade Runner because, if a lawyer were to comb through that, there's no reference to Tyrell or anything in Blade Runner. It's just a very lightly intentioned joke." So as you can see, it is NOT canon, it was just something he thought would be fun to add to the DVD. Its not set in the Blade Runner univers by absolute fact YET Svanya. We have yet to see just what exactly he is yet to do with both franchises as they develope and evolve them further. We may yet see a definate YES they ARE both connected officially in some wya or no it still remains flirtingly abiguous or a definate NO they voth ARE NOT connected in anyway shape or form. He hasn't totally come out and said that they are definately connected YES, but he hasn't come right out and said that they arn't connected to each other either! He has not catagorically said NO to that too so in some ways the jury is still open to suggestion I guess which is probably how he likes it. He did say once in a commentary for either Blade Runner I once listened to or for Alien but he stated in the audio commentary that he gave at least that if the crew of the Nostromo were to have made it all safe and well back to Earth, landed came to the city and walked around the corner of the block the scenery and the streetst they would have walked into would have been that of Blade runner. Now he was most likely being just comparative and thats all to give viewers and fans a rough idea of both what the outer reaches of the Solar System and space would be like within the grounded Blade Runner universe and vise versa what the Earth, life and technology would have been like in more detail within the Alien/Aliens/Prometheus universe. He was probably just making a relevant point of comparison and a point of reference so as we can paint a clearer image within our minds, nothing more but it is fun to speculate that perhaps in a seemingly throw-away comment he may have had dressed up within that a more cryptic alterior thought process that he perhaps was always thinking of pursuing at some point in the future. It would be cool if he did in some way or another, we'll see!
