Do you believe in Ancient Aliens?

I think modern society has the rather annoying tendency of prematurely dismissing the ingenuity of older human civilizations, so when we see examples of their engineering proficiency... we all too readily accept other-worldly explanations. This does not mean that (a) there are no aliens and that (b) such aliens could not have visited earlier peoples; but rather, that we should approach the subject matter with the same discipline as we would any serious scientific inquiry. So keeping the above statement in mind, I should say that although I *want* to believe in the existence of ancient (or not so ancient) alien life forms, I for one will need to see solid evidence before I consider the alien question resolved. I don't even want to get into the whole ufology thing; I'm so tired of that whole scene. You know, our astronomers should have detected something by now; and they can't all be in on some conspiracy to keep the rest of humanity in the dark. I mean, even with the best of efforts, there are bound to be leaks. I mean, even if some alien civilizations have a "prime directive" of non-interference, not all of them would necessarily think in the same way. The thing about Ancient Aliens is that I tend to think only in human terms which is all i know. And as you know we are(our earth) not only just a drop in an ocean but a drop in a thousand oceans. So think there must be aliens somewhere out there and may havbe visited our little world. I recently watched an episode of Deep Space Mysteries, a series of proframs that I find short of details but big on splashy presentaions. One point that was made is that all that we are and we see are made up of matter from the big bang. That would mean that everything we identify as our universe were from the same source. And continuing that thought any aliens and humans would actually be kin. Another mention that if we as humans were started by random lifeforms riding a comet that just happened to crash into our earth then we are the aliens here.

@Molecular I agree, sometimes the people underestimate the ancient civilizations. Besides believing in something without evidence is the same thing as blind faith in the religion, and In that case I prefer to be skeptical. Even if the presence of aliens in the past were likely, this doesn't mean that they influenced the knowledge of humanity, much less in our origins. my goodness i do! personally i dont think it was the way prometheus went with aliens creating us, but aliens found us and decided to help us for a reasdon that will provbably literally never be answered. but one day i believe concrete inarguable proof will be presented of ancient aliens

I believe in Atlantis, Altlandis, The raphaem's island on the ocean, and the mysterious island based groups of the Indian Vedas. Or a lost golden age, a Paradise that once existed.. A garden that was destroyed. A snake that once existed from the before times that serves as our link to the gods. Whatever you wanna call it. There are 1000's of submerged pyramids off the coasts of Asia and South America, older than Giza, just waiting to be explored, but they get swept under the rug and dragged into the Alien Astronaut hypothesis. Most of the "aliens" of myth look like us... There's a deep truth being hidden and revealed in Prometheus. We are the aliens, and they're us but as Shaw and Holloway figure out they [the Engineers] aren't the true creators. What are they then? Why were they visiting and interacting with us for so long? To have that much cultural interplay going on to lead to language developments on both sides they were definitely living amongst us at some point in the film universe. The cave painting could be depicting an actual scene from the ancient past in which these beings ruled over us. Basically they handed us a lot of our culture and half the genetics that sped the natural evolution of Earth along. Others have shown how there would have already been life in the ocean. The ocean theme is big... The fact they went with the name trilobite for the Alien, an evolutionary ancestor is big. The characters in the movie are missing the story of what happened each time the Engineers returned and everything in between that.... How did they pass that knowledge to the people, were they worshiped as gods and kings upon their returns? And if they did rule us for a time and then pass on the knowledge, or were simply worshiped upon arrival, what level of interaction was going on with the early humans... Was there a paradise or a garden of Eden that existed in the past and the serpent ruined it for all of us like they've destroyed all the other gardens? Is Eve/the x chromosome/the missing nipples of the Engineers all related to this?

I have seen this word used in connection with our movie but never searched it's meaning. These water based creatures might tie in to the sacrificial engineer waterfall scenes. But my question is if trilobite and the water connection we see in the pyramids/atmosphere/generators have a bearing on the various alien creatures/goo/xenos we see on our movie?

@Shambhala, thank you for the link concerning the concept of Pareidolia, that was a very interesting read and it highlights a very important issue surrounding the question as presented by the OP. The issue I refer to is one of bias, and it is for this reason that we have developed the scientific method. Lets look at a recent example from within the particle physics community, the search for the Higgs Boson. Look at the total investment in brain power, technology and methodology that is involved in that effort. Clearly, there is serious work going on there which will (hopefully) provide us with some practical applications down the road; and even if it didn't, it's still worth doing on many levels. Humanity needs to grow up and begin to take the search for extraterrestiral life more seriously, because answering the core question- "Are we alone?"- is important regardless of where the chips fall. If we are not alone, that is huge for many reasons that we can all probably easily fathom. But if we somehow discover that we [i]are[i] indeed alone, then that will be equally shocking, primarily because Earth is ultimately a single point of failure for the continued survival of humanity. We are now at 7 billion and counting. Resources are dwindling, pollution is going up, the so-called global economy is on shaky ground and war persists; but most disturbingly, we have not yet cracked gravity, and doing so will be critical to effective space travel. Decades have passed and we are still on rockets; it seems the only technology that is accelerating at a sufficient clip are information technologies. In short, we are basically hanging by a thread and the urgency to change the state of affairs is just not there.

Very nice link Shambhala. What I never understood, is how people say Ancient Aliens built everything from the past, and that humans could never have done any of it. It's just bizarre that so many claim humans were never able to create such marvelous structures.

IOM I think the way we look for evidence is a bit like searching for a needle in a haystack whilst looking through a telescope the wrong way round. Unless technology is understood properly, how do you know what to do with it, and furthermore understanding what it is you are looking for in the first place. After all you have to know what a needle looks like before you go looking for it.

There is another idea: In biology you can find terms endomorph (heavyweight body constitution, increased fat storage, and wide waist), ectomorph (fragile constitution), and mesomorph...all of these are body type traits. The word xenomorph means something in between...what if the race of engineers went through the extinction of their females? And what if they tried to recreate their women again..woman=sexual chomosome xx= Xenomorph, but something went wrong?

I personally think we have been visisted by another race and to me they are the Anunnaki. No matter what people say the stories of 'giants' has been a common one all around the world. Even if its just wishful thinking about a big man being able to do anything, we cannot be an arrogant species we are just a small blue dot in the middle of an immense universe. Even a scientist is arrogant unless he is humble about his/her theories. Mankind must not forget who and where he IS in this place and time. We indians have beliefs about big men who came to the Americas long ago. In the Hopi language the term for a celestial being like the 'ant people' is Anu Naki! In the Bible we call them the Nefilim and Seraphim.

I searched and could not come up with the ant people word Anu Naki. I was instead referred to Anunnaki . Are you suggesting that the Hopi word and the Anunnaki , a grouop of Dieties appearing in a Babylonian creation myth, are related? That connection would be very interesting considering the distances involved from the Middle East to North America at such an early time in human development.

I do apologise for my wierd pride comments but it is true the word really is anu naki in Hopi. Try the Hopi creation stories instead, it worked for me and you might get more information from that. I only know a few search engines to use but I found it there oneday. But you might want to try also Ant Friend because Ant People is the same thing but referring to it in a diff. context.

Is there any Hopi tradition that would somehow connect the anu naki with the Babylonian creation myth? I mention this because I read about a connection between the Hopi Rock and Egyption Pyramids and thought you might have a comment. If not i'll keep digiging

Well there is one thing in mythology that the Hopi speak of and that is a story where the Ant People took them underground. These Ant People in my opinion are not actual ants of course they are representation to what they looked like and what they were wearing. The Ant part is a metaphor because they went underground. In Sumero-Babylonian myth the Anunnaki had there " firey chariots" underneath the Earth like a silo of some sort. There are dpictions of these silos on tablets and wall reliefs. There is a famous coin from Phoenecian times showing a temple from the Baalbek region and its depiction is a mysterious cone shaped object coming out of it. In the story of Gilgamesh he journeys there with his friend Enkidu(of what Enki made). There they spoke with a being named Utu/Shamash and he told them to go back. But after Gilgamesh gave him a tearful story he told him there is another place to go. The Sinai peninsula otherwise known as the Tilmun, its not Bahrain like most archaeologists think because the description of the location is incorrect. In stories they say that it was blown up just like Sodom and Gommorah along with Arrata(Mohenjo Daro) all of these places have been tested and Uranium 235 is very prevalent there. The only place where you can find Uranium is underground NOT ON THE SURFACE. Indicating that something went kaboom. Read the part of the Bibles Old Testament with Lot and Abraham about Sodom and Gommorah it speaks volumes.
