There are NO extra before engineers, they ARE the aliens that predate mankind in the movie. I am not saying that they dont have progenitors its just that they are not the point of the story. The Engineers are the main focus period. If you dont like it then write Ridley Scott yourself. The Space Jockey in Alien is the real deal featured in Prometheus. It doesnt make sense since they are called the"Engineers" and not the "Slaves" hello! What ever makes you sleep at night. THIS IS FOR THOSE WHO JUST CANT ACCEPT THE FACTS AND CONCLUDE THEIR OWN.

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

Annunaki50, I agree the Engineers should have a central focus in a Paradise film but also the proginators or creators of them also should be vigorously explored as well as the purpose of Paradise and why it exists. Shaw and her partner Holloway were the ones who called them "Engineers" but that doesn't mean they are the prime creators. We'll see how Scott puts it together...definitely I'm looking forward to seeing Paradise and how he puts it all together.

I do think they have an earlier 'creator' but they may look just like the Engineers and humans. It could go way back to the first human looking creature. I think what I meant to say is that their are even earlier Engineers. I think he meant their homeworld which would be their makers like Earth is our maker so to speak. I think he might not go where people think. He's going to go and reveal their ravaged homeplanet: Paradise. Who knows but I am just going off of the script and storyline-mythology of the film.

i personally like Prometheus for what it is, but i think Ridley could have easily made this an entirely separate movie having no connection to the alien universe what so ever, it would have still made for an exciting film, and cause less confusion among fans. Ridley did mention that in the second film "we will meet god" meaning the creators of the engineers. Come to think of it its quite funny realizing how Ridley went towards the ancient astronaut idea for this film, whereas alien was going towards the "cosmic horror" idea. This film is hugely inspired by Von Daniken's work whereas Alien was inspired by the polar opposite which is H.P. Lovecraft. Personally for me i like to see the space jockey as something separate from the engineers, but then again everyone's intitled to their opinion.

Indy John...a visual fact is the SJ in Alien is bigger in the driver's seat, so to speak, than the Engineers are. Perhaps they are human-esque like the Engineers but bigger in size. Also, it appeared in the LV 426 ship there were no hypersleep chambers, no holographic command centers to show where the SJ was supposed to go to and the SJ was the sole pilot on the ship it seems. I think in a Paradise film this comparison is not really all that relevant. It could be explained through the Paradise story as a peripheral idea but not the main point. Human DNA, like the xeno gene has the innate ability to adapt to different environments. The Engineers have no whites of the eye and are generally all pale skinned so they developed on a planet or realm with a different star system and natural conditions.

@ King. Personally for me i like to see the space jockey as something separate from the engineers Don't worry, I can guarantee you the space jockeys and what we can call the engineers are completely different species. Shaw only got one thing right in the whole movie - when she looked at the space jockeys DNA and said "It's us."

Now I am confused. SJ(from Alien) is not related to the Engineers. Humans are related to Engineers. Humans not related to SJ. Is that right? In thinking over the the meeting of the SJ in 'Alien' did they try a carbon dating procedure like Shaw did to the falling Engineer?

The Engineers and the Beloved Space Jockey are the same. Sorry guys, they were only made smaller to fit in frame as stated by Ridley Scott on the Bluray. Prometheus is the story of the Space Jockey- plain and simple. They slightly modified the appearance of the original Space Jockey for the sake of the story- that's it. Scott also stated that originally the 'Engineers' were over 12 feet tall, but it was going to be far too difficult to film. Space Jockey= Engineers, sorry- I wish it was more consistent with the original as well. (In terms of size and the organic appearance of the SJ)

This is the new canon now, and you must accept that! XD but if my memory serves me, in some parts of this scene... Ridley Scott first use kids wearing spacesuits to make the SJ more bigger... But I still wonder about the curious aspect of the elephant suits...Did they want to look in appearance to someone? The xenomorphs maybe? Or their creators? Yes and the little guys (just like the adult actors)kept passing out due to crappy ventilation/heat. Scene after scene.

Possibly or its just one of those things when a species makes a technological device it can ending up looking like somekind of creature. Even in the Alien movie the Space Jockey was supposed to be a 'pilot' looking sitting in his chair all hooked up to the helm and wearing the most critical thing a pilot will need...Oxygen. With a helmet and O2 hose and face mask are together. Then it maybe it ended up looking like an elephant trunk.

In Prometheus all it seems to be is just one pilot to get the Juggernuat off the ground. Though other Engineers are seen in their cyro units there is not anyplace in the orrery for an awaken Engineer to sit..or walk. Since the Last Engineeerr needs to be hooked up for this space journey to earth we can assume that the Orrey is not a working arera fior an unsuited Enguineer to work it. The Juggernaut is a large ship for one person t be responsible for,, even if their culture is millions of years old.. This tells me that the amount of automation must be quite extensive with the pilot perhaps even expendable. Perhaps the entire ship completing it's mission might be accomplish by remote control. That is a lot of assumption on my part. Without more facts or quality deductions who is to say what is the continuing story?
