AdminEngineerDecember 31, 2012I launched this site in February of 2011, and we got popular around September 2011 and the fan base has grown from 30 to over 14,000 in just over a year. Prometheus-Movie.com started it all and has brought quite a variety of people to this forum to discuss the Alien franchise and Prometheus.
I've seen many Alien forums and many sci fi online communities. When I began to develop the framework for Prometheus-Movie.com, my goal was to create a simple and effective place for fans to get together and chat. I set in place simple rules - be respectful, treat others how you would like to be treated and be constructive. When you have 14,000 people on a forum, even if only 100 or so are online at any given time, with so many different personalities, tension is bound to flare at times. But all the members here still remain respectful and everyone gets along relatively well.
Since the dawn of the site, well into it's high time this past June and up until now - the user base that has graced this forum for almost 2 years is by far, without a doubt, the best I've ever seen anywhere and I am very, very happy to have all of you on this website and network.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - this isn't my website - it's yours, and you all take such good care of it, you keep it alive and thriving and you all respect one another and respect the staff, and contribute really thought provoking ideas which get the attention of big name media publishers.
We became and still remain, the number 1 Prometheus website on the net and it is only because of you - the members. You have made Prometheus-Movie.com, now Prometheus2-Movie.com the top site to go to for Prometheus discussion and news. You all have made this site so successful and you all continue to grow its reach and impact.
The staff, you do an incredible job - both on this site and my other site, AvPSpectrum, I have never seen such dedication and enthusiasm when it comes to moderating such a large and sometimes chaotic forum, haha. Seriously, many of you don't know, but our staff, Svanya, Freeze, Snorkelbottom and Cypher, our Co-Admins and Feebs are constantly editing spelling mistakes, fixing broken links, digging up old threads to keep them alive, and more than that, all the staff work to ensure everyone feels welcome. Have you got a PM from staff just saying hi? I know many of you have, and it's a rare thing to find these days. The staff here kick ass, and they're the best bunch I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and getting to work with.
To the members, I can't thank you enough for growing the site so much and keeping it in such good health.
So, as 2013 approaches, and with the site on a new domain and design, I am confident, we will become (if we're not already) the best Sci-Fi online community for fans of the hottest sci-fi franchises. With the birth of Scified, and sites covering big name films like Pacific Rim, Jurassic Park 4, RoboCop (2014), Blade Runner 2 and Mad Max: Fury Road, we continue to provide the same service and promote the same attitude on all our sites there is no question about it.
So thank you, everyone for keeping this place clean, fun and welcoming for new comers. I hope everyone has a safe New Years and I can't wait to see what 2013 brings! Here's to another successful year and Prometheus 2 (hopefully)! Don't forget about Scified.com too, for a wider range of sci-fi entertainment and news!
I rarely find Administrators of big sites taking the time to thank their user base who make their sites so successful, so I wanted to make sure you all got to know that I appreciate you all and that I thoroughly enjoy running this place for you!
Happy New Year everyone, it's been a great ride and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year! :)
Sincerely,
Chris
