For me its one of the scenes from alien, the space jockey scene. It just blew me away, i guess manly it was the whole mystery of it.
"how do you feel?"-" great, next stupid question"

The very first movie, Alien, got me sucked in. This movie had a wow factor of 10/10. At the time there was no other movie like it. The way the crew interacted at the start of the film, Space Truckers just going about their daily business. Eating together, joking around, stirring each other.
Then the surface of LV-426, and the relic and the Space Jocky. H R Giger's work was so amazing to see on the big screen. Then the Chest Burster. Wow!. There certainly had never been anything like that before.
What I really liked about Alien was the suspense. You really do not see a lot of the creature. Just darkness, the head or tail of the alien and then strike!. It's not until the end of the film that you see the who creature.
From the chest burster through to the end, the film had such great momentum. The movie had my full attention.
Finally there was Sigourney Weaver. Ripley was the first female lead character to kick some serious butt. She was awesome.
When the other movies followed I watched them all with great enthusiasm. Alien will always be my favorite.

Being scared to death as a kid.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

It's the "OMG :O" - effect that had me watching them and the alien itself

when they discovered the eggs and that long shot when kane is being lowered into the egg chamber garnered my attention from there untill the end.
But the funnny thing is, when avp came out i thought the commercials looked so cool and i really wanted to see it, but mom said no(thought it wasnt appropiate for a 7 year old) and that had me on wikipedia and i came upon the alien series. plus i had never seen an alien movie untill i bought the dvd set.
So if avp never existed, i might not be here telling you about this right now haha:)

well despite my current movie knowledge and actual understanding of film, i used to be an idiot about movies. i used to love transformers (this is back in 5th grade btw so dont judge me lol) then i saw aliens and it just blew me away, and i realized what i had been missing the whole time, and then i started getting into movies and learning about them, how to make then, writing, special effects, make up, and i started watching the greats like 2001 a space Odyssey and it really just turned me around. i remember aliens was my favorite for the longest time, but as i became even more mature i realized alien was the superior film. over all it just sucks me in, there are so many small details and stories to here and watch, i even enjoy listening to how they made the bad ones, its just awesome :)

Alien was such a powerful movie
It was set in a Universe wrapped up in sumptious dark sexual Giger imagery
The soundtrack and effects mesmerising thoughtful frightening
The Xenomorph was terrifying powerful indifferent
The planet, ships, technology fascinating
the Space Jockey mysterious and awe-inspiring and still are .. even today
the characters were so human in their strengths and weaknesses
and Ripley was the first strong woman in Science Fiction
So.......
I guess you have worked out that....
I really LOVED it!!! :)

Well, im only 15 years old, but the first thing that took me away was the Space Jockey scene when i was about 8-9 years old... so many questions, the music makes it even more mysterious, etc. etc. Since that scene, im a big fan of the Alien universe.

I watched "Alien" very late one night when I was about 6-7 years old. My parents were having a dinner party an didn't know I was up and had sneeked into the T.V room. I fell in love with the look of the Alien, I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. And then the Android "Ash", that was the first time I ever saw an Android that was so human-like and that wasn't portrayed as a bumbling side-kick. Ever since then I have been a fan of the "Alien" movies and Giger.

For me it was the storyline: a group of people facing a seemingly unstoppable force isolaterd from the rest of their world.
AS much as I wanted them to stay together each drifted away and were gone.
Ripley was a great charactor. Her perspective and steadiness and leadership was great.
It could have been a great Hitchcock story, suspensful.

The first Alien movies i saw was Aliens, and i was young so i loved the action and the quotes :P. I then saw Alien resurrection, thought it was alright, then brought the Alien boxset. Watching Alien, it had a whole different feel, claustrophobic and serious, but interesting, id thought the SJ had a bad encounter like the rest. Alien 3 is alright, the actings good, but the effects, not.
ultimately what got me into Alien, was the crazy aliens, and marines.

For me it was the movie Aliens. The fear of unknown and the dark rainy planet LV-426. It's like, when the marines go to the inside the compund, and there's nothing, not a sound, not a single sing of the terraformers, just ruble and acid made holes. I was 14 years old when I first saw it, nd after that all others alien movies. After that, Ihave been a fan, saw Prometheus 2 times in theateramd bought the Blu-ray. Just love the movies and the myths, and cant wait the nexy movie.

Took a date to see Alien when it was released in 1979. She didn't speak to me for 2 weeks afterwards. I should've taken that as a hint but being stupid and in lust I missed the opportunity to dump her.
Oh, and I've been a sci-fi fan since "The Day The Earth Stood Still", the original version directed by Robert Wise and starring Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal.
They don't make'm like that anymore.

The space jockey, face-hugger and chest-burster were soooooo off-the-wall and so very original in 1979 it was scary. Giger's stuff wasn't widely known in the States and his creations were sexually frightening and generally spooky as shit.

From the opening credits, with the title appearing to Gerry Goldsmith's eerie score, I was captivated! I had shivers down my spine & could feel my nerve endings tingle.
Alien merged two of my greatest loves; art & film like never before. It's the perfect heavy metal, sci-fi, horror hybrid. I enjoy viewing it as much today, as I did that very first time.
The Space Jockey reveal, the facehugger, the chestburster, are the most audacious, awesome scenes. Then of course, the final Giger incarnation, that beautiful menacing adult, remains in MHO, the greatest monster ever!
The true genius of Alien is that we experience everything along with the crew. The scares were as unexpected for them as they were for us. That made the characters reactions & the whole story so realistic. The constantly moving camera viewpoint was pretty unsettling too & the engines 'heartbeat' sound effect.
