MemberOvomorphNov-16-2012 2:59 AMI'm pretty sure that they will use Predators in the sequel, because how other way could this woman and android to survive on Paradise? It would be cool to see how Predator takes out an Engineers spine.Or maybe( her spaceship is full of these boxes with black liquid) she will throw these boxes outta ship on Paradise.Would love to know ur opinions.

MemberOvomorphNov-16-2012 9:43 AMNo Predators for me..
Let's keep the satoryline in the Prometheus/Engineer Universe.
Saying that any Predators added to the storyline will be attended to and eliminated by Engineers. Back up will be Arnold
Somehow the Shaw/David story will join up with Engineers to take on a greater force than even the vauted Predators in P2

MemberDeaconNov-16-2012 10:43 AMWell the theme seems to be about the Engineers we have not seen much of them and the reasons for a lot of the time the Engineers appeared in the movie was cut out could be the biggest clue that this is what they want to explore in Paradise.
Even the deleted scenes where Cut down mainly the Engineer ones.
1) The opening scene the one Elder and Sacrificial Engineer had a Dialog.
2) Their is potentially more Dialog from the Last Engineer and David as their Dialog amounted to pages of Dialect and even in deleted scenes there was not what you would call Pages.
3) The Engineer was shot reading and looking at a Book found in the Lifeboat in Vickers Quarters. This book looks like the Bible.
So i would assume that they cut these out as they wanted to keep much of the Engineer and Elder race a secret for Paradise.
The Xeno has been done to death, the process of the Goo was a plot to explain a connection with the Xeno and Engineers and the End Product Deacon a Plot Device to ultimately show that the Substance via a series of events can create a Organism very similar to the Xeno.
The fact that Fox Viral for Weyland File about the Goo was released and attempts to explain the Goo but in a way that well contradicts the effects seen in the movie. But still the very fact that Weyland Viral Marketing released such information and also knowledge of LV 426 would maybe been done so as to cover some bases regarding the Goo and Xeno.
So that they may never have to fully explain or visit them again, as the Goo and its effects from the Hammerpedes, the Trilobite Shaws Baby the Deacon and evidence of Chest Busted Engineers and the Mural all seem to show that covering the Goo and its effects in Prometheus 2 or even the Deacon would well be too similar to whats been done in Alien Franchise.
This would thus maybe indicate that Paradise will be purely about the Engineers maybe it would have flash back scenes about their History and interaction with Mankind, and also would go to explain why they created us and if we are the only creation or is Earth the only places they seeded life.
This leave a massive potential for Prometheus 3 but i also feel at some point they may have to explain why they wanted to Destroy us and the Purpose of LV 223 and the Urns and connection with the Xeno and Alien/LV 426.

I have not watched the scene you describe but the books were featured in a scene with Vickers/ Janek. It was a impressive library.
Has any explanation surfaced as to why there are books at all on this ship?
Books themselves seem more aligned to Weyland than to Vickers.

MemberOvomorphNov-16-2012 11:06 AMin the deleted scenes conversation between vickers and weyland he seems surprised that she came so it seems when making arrangements like having his favourite belongings put in the lifeboat those would mostly be his, for all we know when vickers decided she was coming along after all maybe only the chandelier... hell maybe only the vodka and her clothes are what she added

Now if we was created by the Greys and it was one of them that read it well they are very familiar with that book and may even apply some of the stuff to advance their butt probing techniques lol

MemberOvomorphNov-17-2012 4:14 PMPredators, won't happen. Ridley Scott himself refuse to even watch the AvP movies.

MemberOvomorphNov-19-2012 3:03 AMShaw doesn't expect to survive. She probably wants to kill all the engineers she can, using their own weapons against them. The Predators, if they are imagined in the same universe, would wipe the floors with the engineers, but the film won't go in that direction.

MemberOvomorphNov-19-2012 2:08 PM"..Shaw doesn't expect to survive.."
In the beginning Shaw was about following the invitation to meet the Engineers,
After all we witness in Prometheus Shaw is at the point is I don't care what it mcost I want to follow thins next 'invitation;
She has lost everything in her human life(except her faith and unaswered questions) so she has not much else to lose. That to me is why your comment is kinda frightnening,,
David will need to to watch out for the motivated girl that has nothing to lose and is motivated to find out what the hell is gong on!

MemberOvomorphMay-03-2013 11:27 PMI was thinking that the movie is also telling the story of "a new Prometheus", after the titan in Greek mythology. Prometheus was banished from Mount Olympus, home of the gods, for giving fire to mankind, and I think LV 223 might be a good analogy for the Underworld, where Prometheus was sent. In these movies, the gift to mankind wasn't fire, though, it was life. Life and more life, in fact, giving mankind as Weyland says, "equal footing with the gods" by enabling them to create (and destroy) life at such a fundamental level and to such a large scale. This was probably done with the gift going to some other race, say the predators, initially, and when mankind comes to LV 223, they can bring tha "fire" home to Earth or use it elsewhere. Shaw embodies man given this in the movie, and its expected sequel(s), and she may use it to fight the gods (the engineers from their home world).
