The cryo Engineer has a pretty dream for 2,000 years then gets woken up and is very angry. At the end of we see the sleepy engineer get impregnated by the trilobite. But could he have already been infected with the black goo, but the effects not as strong as he's been in cryo(bleeds black blood in deleted scene), and that mixture makes the deacon?

"..But could he have already been infected .." I like this thinking because it helps to explain the erratic behaviour when the Engineer meets the Weyland and the crew. One poster mentioned that the Engineer's violent behaviour was out of charactor for a highly advance race as we percieve the Engineers. That thinking, together with being already infected, seem to help explain the Engineers reaction to seeing humans.

In the data Fox put out it says that one form of the goo can cause people to go a little crazy or act illogical. This comes from the file Weyland has that's been translated from Engineer data on the effects of the goo. The data says it can make those who are infected agitated, or something similar. If the Engineer was infected there's a little bit more reason behind how emotional he was. When you look at how long it normally takes this to happen in the data, then you can imagine how this may change the movie (Fifield's different from the inhalant form because he was dead and it touches his skin/face). David may have been wrong about some things, just like other characters don't know he's beginning to gain true emotion. Whoever drank that water was screwed. Shaw may be infected too, and Fifield took the black goo straight into his bloodstream through his melted face. He didn't inhale it or ingest it. The crew all inhale it on their way out of the temple, the air was clean until David opened the door. But David doesn't like to tell them that things change. The entire crew could have inhaled some, and acquired the minor affects of that form of the goo as described in the Engineer's data. On top of possibly having personality disorders that add to some of them acting illogical, and being so sure that they can take their helmets off and keep them off once the biological agent is released. Their other problem is they trust David and don't question him further.

Hello all it would be nice to know the Anatomie of the last engineer Do we have to assume that the used the goo to modify their Body is it possible that, i Dont know How,his ribs his chest bones were bent outwards so he has Now an exoskellet. So to say they infectet somehow their Body to make it more resistant or does he have under the suit the Same ribs and chest as ee have ok but after the trilobite infects him the second time Now the deacon can grow inside him like depicted in the mural that means the big head is their God {properbly a Satan like god } Under given circumstances {thesecond Infektion} the deacon can rise inside the alredy infected Body thatfore his ribs and all ares bent outside so that the deacon can have enough space to grow all depicted in the big head room and mural and signs of baphomet in that room Dont know Ifo it Workstation out Thx friends

"..baphomet.." This is a good word to use to consider Good/Bad Satanic references you see in the mural. Actually the Engineers and humans have the same enemy. At some point don't you think they will team up to fight the xeno's in whatever form they morph into?

I thought all the goo and xenomorphs were _created_ as some kind of weapon against humans? Or is the goo and xenomorphs natural to their planet?

Well maybe their was even more Dialog than the Deleted Scene Showed. As their was a rumor of how many pages of Dialog David had to learn for that scene and well he hardly spoke so many pages worth in that scene. But going from the scene here is roughly what was said... not word for what but the purpose and intent is all the same. First... Weyland tells David to speak to him and tell him we came just like he asked. David tells this and he must have informed the Engineer that they came to find him because of the clues and star maps left behind from them in the past. The Engineer speaks, and David tells Weyland he wants to know why have them come and what do they want. David then tells the Engineer why Weyland wanted to come, and that he was dying and wanted more life and to be immortal. The engineer at this point seemed to be a little upset at that demand, and David said that he asked why.... now i can assume that the Engineer must have also said or meant something similar to "how dare you come here and demand immortality, why should you have that. Weyland then talks to the Engineer and we dont know if he understands or not or he interpreted it like i roughly did with the Engineer, or maybe there was more dialog after Weyland where David maybe told the Engineer Weyland created him. As all of a sudden the Engineer then noticed that maybe David was not Human and he confirmed this once he touched his head.

AS far as the Weyland Viral... Well i think this was a lazy attempt for Fox and Co to give us answers for the movie without them using the deleted scenes... The deleted scenes explained more gave clues, but if they wanted to discard these scenes and dont forget these scenes are also edited such as Engineers never spoke in Sacrificial Scene but they did when it was shot and the Last Engineer finds and reads a bit of a book found in the Lifeboat Scene, again this was cut from the deleted scenes. so how can they give us clues if they plan to not use the deleted scenes i.e they feel they are not part of the explanation... Well the creation of that Weyland File is how. But its a lazy attempt to tie in all those Goo events but in a way that contradicts what we see in the movie and also the deleted scenes. The answers they gave... well just made even more of a mess of the puzzle.

"..As all of a sudden the Engineer then noticed that maybe David was not Human and he confirmed this once he touched his head..." You sort of wonder when did the Last Engineer discover that David was not human. Maybe he already knew of David's android nature. before the Ottery meeting took place. His last calm gesture was touching David's head. Was it really a friendly gesture or just a final act by a superior being just before destroying a creature much like a last supper might be for a condemned man.

Yes , in a way, it looked as if the Engineer was playing around with them. Giving them false hope, then bang.
