To me, it seems she wants to go there mainly because she is wrathfull, she lost her partner to the Engineers, and wants to know, why did he have to die? Why do they hate human beings, what is so wrong with them? This to her is more valuable than the life and scepticism she will have to face if she returns to earth.

but she must realize any revenge she would get would be minimal and she would alert the aliens to their failed experiment and they could easily continue with the plan to wipe us out.

yup, she probably doesnt realistically think she can get back to earth in hypersleep designed for engineers ( it was a 2 year journey from earth). she probably considers herself dead after what she saw. she wants to ask the engineers why they created humans and later sought to destroy.

i'd be fine with that explanation if she wasnt the one yelling that they were headed back to Earth to destroy us. or maybe after the events sunk in she really didnt care about Earth afterall and just wanted a shot at answers/revenge even if it means our extinction.

Well, i think she wants to go to engineers homeplanet because that probably could get a much more interesting plot, then the story if she would fly home to earth to a psychologist to work on her traumas...

As before 2000 years the "engineers" (or better said - the alien soldiers, as i still believe they are not "the" engineers but clone-soldiers) had the plan to bring the goo-cargo to earth to terminate mankind, and something disturbt that plan, the question is what happens the last 2000 years in the engineers universe that nobody came to LV-223 to find out what goes on.
Sounds good that in engineers universe LV-223 was a "sealed/quarantined" Planet so they never came back there because it would be to dangerous to infect with bio-goo, and one survivor in hypersleep for 2000 years (looked lil bit like neo waking up in matrix, but thats another story..haha).

Like every Christian with a case of space madness she wants to be face-to-face with God.

This movie has to answer will Shaw able survive for the journey since the hypersleep chamber not designed for human.

she said why...she wanted to know what pissed them off and decide to wipe us all out?...she's gone there to give them a piece of her mind, lol. I Love it!

What if She won't make it the home world and The Deacon however will along with the cargo?
Hmmmm

No, the alien ship[s] carry cargo that is deadly. So, to go to the alien's homeworld, she would bring their invention to their 'shores'. She couldn't tell David 8 that, because he might not want to do it. So she gave him a bull**** story, to get him to navigate her there!

Going to the Engineer's Home World was an emotional decision. On the journey there some practical considerations must include:
*More Humans to balance out the robotic David's mind
*Personal Protection something not quite as destructive as the 'goo' but more effective than hand to hand combat
*Learn the language. As long as she is dependent on David to be the communicator, the more she is at risk.
