Captain Janek does indeed give the orders to crash the ship into the derelict, but does he perform the action? No. I believe david or one of the co-pilots does the deed, allowing Shaw and janek to get away and find vickers who has already left. They eventually end up searching the crashed derelict or the temple, but find that whatever was on the ship survived etc.
Thats my theory at least. If not this, i do believe 3 people will survive the crash due to the fact there is 3 escape pods :)
Any thoughts?

I agree that your take makes sense. Actually I think the ship can do it by itself. If you see the credits, there are two computer voices. If the have artificial intelligence, they could be commanded to crash _ they would not even need David (alas, the poor android probably will be beheaded long before this).

I think that after the ship crashed into the derelict there is still LOADS more to come of the film! and thats a good point, they could programme it to crash into the derelict! people were saying to me the other day that when janek says heads up it when it crashes but i recon its the sand storm bit!

MemberOvomorphJan-22-2013 10:09 AMPolish people I know love Prometheus, in part because Janek is a Polish name. They're mildly confused, though, because there are very very few black people in Poland. Maybe things will be different in 80 years.
