AdminEngineerSeptember 05, 2025A new rumor is circulating suggesting that the reason Fede Alvarez left the Alien: Romulus sequel was because he wanted to cast Michael Fassbender and bring David back somehow. This apparently didn't jive with Ridley Scott because apparently Scott has plans of casting Fassbender in his own Alien project – a new prequel which would continue David's story after Covenant.
According to the rumor, this creative difference led to Fede walking away and Scott reserving David and the casting of Fassbender for his next Alien prequel.
Older rumors also suggested the Alien: Romulus sequel would feature a Predator as part of a crossover, much like how Predator: Badlands features Weyland-Yutani references. This may or may not have also led to some friction, as Scott has never been a fan of the two franchises crossing over.
Obviously this is an unsubstantiated rumor, with no way to verify its validity yet... So, until we receive any kind of confirmation, we can't assume these claims are true.
Big fat IF it is true though, has major implications for the future of Alien and personally, I'd be VERY happy to know Scott is bringing Fassbender back for another Alien prequel.
What do you think?
