Honest first impressions of Alien: Earth

The Alien: Earth series has officially debuted online and I’m opening a topic to house everyone’s first impressions. As die-hard Alien fans, our reception is often a mixed bag lol… 😂
Update: Okay, first episode finished and I have mixed feelings. I appreciate the opening sequences, a number of Alien callbacks and homages spotted throughout. I like how the Maginot and Prodigy’s emergency response vehicles share DNA with the vehicles in Prometheus and I loved the subtle showcase of the Smartgun… However I have some reservations. Heading into episode 2 and will continue sharing my thoughts in the replies below.

The look the boy genius got from his female employee was the same look David gave to his "master" when he told him to pour his tea. Watch out boy genius. Is he supposed to be Elon Musk?

Nothing really happened tonight. They are going to bore us all season and make us wait a long time for the answers in season 2. So many inconsistencies, like the amount of money the corporation was complaining about in Aliens 2 and how much more money corporations have in Alien Earth. The red headed girl reminds me of Lambert from the first movie, Alien. I hope her mind isn't being taken over by that eye octopus.
I have watched both episodes three times and honestly, I think i'm going through the stages of grief over this series. Currently, i'm in denial... Thank god for Timothy Olyphant is all i'll say, Kirsh my fave character, along with Morrow. All the actors are good, imo. rnIt's not terrible, but so far I am underwhelmed to say the least. I'll try and keep an open mind and enjoy the rest of the episodes but to me something is off and I can't explain it, it's like "Temu Alien", if that makes any sense. I subbed to Disney+ to watch and support the show, *cries*. Oh well, at least I can enjoy the other Alien movies there, lol.
I'm hoping they answer questions like, why the xenomorph didn't attack Wendy when she was in the storage bin with her brother, before the end of the season and don't keep us hanging while they decide if and when there will be a season 2.

Yeah that xeno likes to drool all over Hermit but can't eat him. Insane plot armor.
I’m gonna try to give the plot some grace with regards to Hermit and make the suggestion that maybe Hermit doesn’t pose a real threat to the Xenomorph (cause he really doesn’t) and maybe the Xeno sees him more viable as a host for the eggs waiting back on the ship. That’s my theory, the Xenomorph kills all immediate threats and then hunts down hosts, that would explain why it holds back and doesn’t kill him despite having many opportunities to do so. 🤷🏼♂️

If they killed him, Wendy would lose part of her storyline.
I wonder if they are aiming for a more light-hearted approach for this show, as compared to those Alien films. The tone and tempo somewhat gives me Alien Resurrection vibe.Yeah, I get Resurrection vibes as well. Not sure it’s intentional, given the pre-release interviews and sentiments but who knows.
I'm going to watch all the movies again starting with Alien. With your input, I can probably get a better picture of what's going on here.

Good point. Never thought the brother was just a host for the Zenomorph queen.
and ,,,,,,,Enjoying the tunes at the end of each episode , ROCK ON
Just think it's out of place. Liked the music in the movies. Hoping they change all this for season 2.
It is an enjoyable show, but don't like some of the stuff they are messing with in the lore, like how can the android communicate with the Alien ?
I bet they go down the road that the Alien is just misunderstood and not that bad after all.
Like they did with Orcs in rings of power.

It's not like Wendy had alien DNA like Ripley did in that horrible Alien Resurrection. The ship hadn't crashed yet for them to do that. How does Ripley with acid blood live normally on Earth? It just seems that they rehash the same plot for every movie: Only the female can win against the aliens, a lovestory that starts but never finishes, a crazy robot, bad guys who are good guys and good guys who are bad guys, etc...

This unfortunately seems more and more plausible after watching Episode 6.
