Walter Hill and the 50 shades of Ripley

"Speaking to Empire in the new Heroes Issue– on sale now – Weaver revealed that she received a 50-page treatment from Alien franchise producer Walter Hill around a year and a half ago for a different take on a fifth Ripley film, which came about in the aftermath of Blomkamp’s project falling through – though she’s ultimately not sure the future of Alien rests in the revival of that legendary character. “I don’t know,” she said. “Ridley has gone in a different direction. Maybe Ripley has done her bit. She deserves a rest.”

I don't get it, Walter Hill gave the 50 page treatment to Sigourney Weaver after the release of Alien Covenant? The producers have absolutely no common sense if they still want to resurrect Ripley, after Alien Covenant? What a mess!

@daliens

Special Order 937 seemed to indicate they was aware of something on LV-426, its indicated that Ash was assigned to the Nostromo because the Company was aware of something on LV-426

That Poster was a Marketing PLOY something that was NAUGHTY as the Movie had Nothing like this Planned, thats NOT to say something like this could NOT happen in Sequels ;)

@MonsterZero

Certainly with the Revelation of the Black Goo it does make it a bit POINTLESS in going for Xenomorph Eggs.

With the Indication the Xenomorph was a Engineered Weapon of the Engineers, then Changed to be David, that somehow ENDS on a Engineer Ship.

Then i think WHOEVER had Created had more Interest than to just KILL... they would have taken Great Pride in its Creation.

Trying to TIE it up to the Company and the Ends it would go to OBTAIN it, i think that FITS a Revelation that the Company is RAN by A.I that is either David or is something that ADMIRES him.

This would be a Revelation that would NOT sit well with Many Fans though ;)

Regarding this Walter Hill Draft... i can only ASSUME that he had looked at Blomkamps Latter ALIEN 5 (that included Ripley) and he then decided to RE-WORK it like how he and David Giler did with O'Bannon and Shusett earlier Drafts that became ALIEN.

Carlos Huante did some work on a Project Red Harvest i WONDER if this was in relation to the Walter Hill 50pg Draft?

When looking at Blomkamps Concepts and then Red Harvest it give me the Following Impression!

30+ Years after the Destruction of Hadleys Hope, some Organization Return to LV-426 (Yawn!) and Recover the Derelict.

What we have then is ONE of maybe TWO Scenarios.

1) Said Organization have trouble TRYING to Obtain a Pure Specimen as the Xenomorph Eggs are Contaminated (Radiation) so we see MUTATIONS but eventually they OBTAIN a more Pure Queen...

2) Said Organization begin Experiments on the Eggs and they Create a Number of Mutant Xenomorphs, but we also get Classic ALIENS Versions and Queen too.

But then for some Reason we see Miss Ripley and Hicks (Yawn!) Rock up and well likely they would PUT a STOP to it all...

Now yeah Yawn! is a Bit Harsh... maybe if we never had ALIEN 3 then this could have been a Ideal Sequel... but we have seen Ripley, i dont think we need to HANG the Franchise Return on a Character who has had her STORY.

Back to LV-426 again!  How Original lol

To be FAIR i think the PLOT could Work it had some interesting things about the Concepts... but i DONT see the NEED to Resurrect Ripley... we did that Once Before ;)

Looking more into this Project i looked at the Brandywine Production Company Website and its Interesting.  Take a Look

Has the Official Site been replaced with the ABOVE?

Also doing some looking around i came across THIS

So this seems LEGIT

Also this Draft is Dated March 2020

"In space no one can hear you scream
In space no one can hear you dream

All that we see or seem, is but a dream within a dream."

To me this seems rather Worrying to me, it appears that what we have is Blomkamps ALIEN V idea, given a going over by Hill and Giler, and it seems the CONCEPT/PLOT could be that ALIEN 3 and ALIEN RESURRECTION are just NIGHTMARES of Ellen Ripley.

This seems to show me that Disney are Buckling to Fan Service more so than FOX did when we got Alien Covenant instead of a Prometheus 2 that would have STEERED away from ALIEN.

I would NOT be surprised if after this ALIEN V is released and IF it does Well/Ok then the Prequels will just be ANOTHER DREAM!

Ridley Scott had tried to EXPAND the Franchise with Prometheus.

We could have Expanded to the Far Reaches of the Galaxy and Beyond, many Worlds, Races, Conflict and Horrors.

But NOW maybe we are just Confined to a 40LY Area from Earth.... or WORSE!  The Dreams of Ripley... imagine that... that ALIEN is also just a Dream?

But lets not get to HASTY... maybe it will be a Good Popcorn Flick.

I Personally think you HAVE to Continue after Alien Resurrection and i have had 3 Ideas of how they could do that with Ripley 8 and GET around the Age Difference....

But looks like we will get to a Ripley 30 years latter and that at least Alien 3 and Alien R are just a BAD DREAM.... Yawn!

The End Scene of ALIEN X released in 2036

"and that Children is the END, now Sleep Tight my Dears, Dont let the BED BUGS bite"

Run Credits!

"Certainly with the Revelation of the Black Goo it does make it a bit POINTLESS in going for Xenomorph Eggs."

Yup. Eggs: the victim has to be near or look directly into pod....and maybe avoid the facehugger..low odds but it can be done...and if you have a weapon your odds increase greatly.

Black goo: yeah, you're pretty much dead....no shotgun or nuke is gonna save you.

All I get is a black screen and the Brandywine Production written with white letters.

"He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"

The quote from Poe, "All that we see or seen is but a dream within a dream" and the other mention of dream "In space no one can hear you dream" reminded me of David " No one understands the lonely perfection of my dreams".

What troubles me is the title, Alien V.

Can you still access the site?

When I accessed the Brandywine site in computer I see a "V" only, can't see the title page of the draft you posted, BigDave.

If it's dated March 2020, cannot be the same Sigourney Weaver was talking about. But I believe her confession is part of a marketing campaign for Blomkamps Alien V. That sucks if it is true.

I believe somebody from Brandywine is looking at this forum, since they changed the Brandywine home page immediately after BigDave grabbed the first page of the draft.

To quote BlackAnt, "the black goo is what we call in the movie business one of those Mcguffs".

BlackAnt was also a supporter of the space wars and profitability of the franchise.

Coincidentally there is another quote on the draft cover, "War is hell".

What the hell is going on?

"He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"

Hey! The great idea- V means vivisector! And who is the vivisector is the Alien universe? Rigth! It's will be a third "prequel"-sequel to Alien Covenant, but actually it will be also the retcon of Alien 3. Ripley & Co fights against David's invasion!

Ripley will shoot David by pulse rifle, but David will repulse the shots using the sound wave of a wooden flute, after which he uses kung-fu!

I also found this:

"Sigourney, as she has from the very beginning, is being too modest about her proven ability to pull off the idea — which is to tell a story that scares the pants off your date, kicks the ass of a new Xenomorph, and conducts a meditation on both the universe of the Alien franchise and the destiny of the character of Lt. Ellen Ripley," Hill said in a statement obtained by SYFY WIRE.

Totally crap.

Siggy, kick the asses of these two lousy writers, Hill and Giller, please.

I am more than sure that their level of professionalism is undeniably higher than that of Lindeloff.

That shouldn't be too difficult.

I only hope Sigourney Weaver will not change her mind.

uugh.

Instead of Ripley ejecting the creature out the airlock(for the fourth time)

Have her kill the xeno onboard the ship and that ship loses control(xeno acid eats through the controls) and crashes on the planet.

Or let the company finally win setting up a sequel.

The new definition of a popcorn chick flick: a story that

- scares the pants off your date,

- kicks the ass of a new Xenomorph, and

- conducts a meditation on both the universe of the Alien franchise and the destiny of the character of Lt. Ellen Ripley.

Something of a Twilight Saga, with new xenomorphs instead of vampires.

Hard to imagine Ripley meditating on the Alien universe (in the privy?), then kicking the ass of a new xenomorph, then meditating on her own destiny of multiple deaths and resurrections. Not sure which part would scare the pants off your date and how old that date should be. LMAO

Hope they don't fragment the fans more with a SJW or Black Lives Matter angle.

I can see them jumping on that bandwagon.

The evil police...err Xenomophs! need to be taught a strong lesson!

I see Blomkamp getting onboard for this.

Yeah the Page is Blank with a V

We have to remember that Hill and Giler make money as Producers, and if they can SELL a idea to Disney where they can make a Popcorn Fan Service Ret-con, well if that MAKES the Money thats where Disney would go.

The Franchise will go by WHAT makes MONEY.. if that means SIMPLE Action and NO real Depth thats what they would do.

Now its NOT that i dislike the Franchise or Aliens... it was a Story about the MONSTER and RIPLEY.  It seemed to have come FULL-CIRCLE with Alien 3 and Miss Weaver did-not want to do anymore at that Time.

Alien Resurrection was FAR from a Perfect Return but it offered some interesting ideas to EXPAND it past the Standard Xenomorph by that i mean Potential of Genetically Re-Engineering it, looking at the Potential of Ripley 8 as far as a Specimen to Experiment on.

The Prequels have become a PICKLE!

BUT i just DONT see the Need to go and Reboot Alien 3 on-wards by offering us it was all  DREAM!

Did anyone see the Latest TerminatorArnie just does-not have that same Impact as in Terminator and Terminator 2 are we going to see a 70+ Year Old Ripley go and KICK ASS for another 2-3 Movies while she is 70-80 to Shoot them?

You could DIGITALLY de-age her but UNLESS its done right and thats Expensive per Minute then it could look more DAFT (if not done right) than the Old Man Weyland.

You DONT have to touch upon the Prequels as far as to Literally give stuff away to make a NEW Movie... you dont have to REBOOT anything.

You can either.

1) Continue with Ripley 8 after Alien Resurection (where only a Few Scenes you De-Age her before you then offer TWO Plots.

a) She slowly is Changing more into a Hybrid so her Skin changes more like Holloways was (Grey) you can get away with more CGI then as she does-not have to look 100% like a Humans Skin Texture/Color.

b) As above but someone offers to RID her of the Xenomorph DNA... after this is Removed... she then Gradually is shown to AGE...

2) You go and make another ALIEN movie that again gives someone else a BITE at the Cherry... and you DONT have to go back to the Derelict on LV-426 or LV-223, or Planet 4 to Introduce somewhere where there are more EGGS.

Was the Derelict the ONLY ship that was LOADED with that Cargo?

IF you are going to make a OH its DREAM.... then make it a Dr Shaw's Nightmare!

So IF we leave the WHEN as far as the Xenomorph was Created a Mystery well we simply DONT carry on with the Prequels.

But we do-not try and CONFLICT them... so its left OPEN to us Wondering.... so DID those Xenomorphs of Davids get on LV-426?  Did the Engineers take his Creation and Evolve it? Or was the LV-426 Eggs something that was Created Thousands of Years ago....

We just DONT indicate any of it.

Regardless of the ANSWER the Eggs got onto a Engineer Ship, can we be SURE that they got on ONLY the One Ship?

IF not then WHERE could the other Ships had GONE?  By Virtue of the Engineers Ships then those other Eggs could be Located in a AREA that is FAR from where Humans had Explored by the Time of ALIENS.

One of these Worlds could be another HUMAN Colony... but a World where these Humans had arrived their Thousands of Years ago via the Engineers, maybe its a Engineers World?

Maybe its a World where the Engineers and other Humans lived in some kind of Harmony..... UNTIL the Xenomorph had been SENT there!

But WHO would want to do such a thing?

*Maybe Engineers be it they Created it Eons ago or they have Engineered Davids Creation or Took it, decided that they have to GO and Eradicate the Human Settlements... only the ONE that was Destined for Earth had ENDED UP on LV-426 you simply leave the WHO/HOW and WHEN a Mystery

*Maybe David intended to DESTROY the Earth and OTHER Places inc Engineer Settlements... and again the ONE that was Destined for Earth had ENDED UP on LV-426 you simply leave the WHO/HOW and WHEN a Mystery

All we have is that Humans will end up on this World and discover the Aftermath... but they would be Surprised to Discover some other Humanoid Settlements that look Ancient, but with some Advanced Technology thats BEYOND what we have on Earth....

HOW did this Happen?  Well thats when loosely the PLOT of Prometheus could be looked at....

So you can then from this EXPAND on the Franchise to what Prometheus was showing a little... without giving us the Xenomorph Origin or looking at WHAT it is that David had been doing.

I have just looked the Date of the Draft  is Friday 13th March 2020

Maybe its a Early April Fools? As i am a bit Suspicious of the Friday the 13th Date?  But the Miss Weaver had said she had a Draft off them 18  Months ago so who knows.

The draft was confirmed by Walter Hill in the link I posted above, so it's legit. It might be slightly different than the one handed over to Sigourney Weaver because of the more recent date on the cover.

The problem is that I find it hard to believe they would make money with another Ripley story, even if it will be a more children friendly film (like Aliens tried to do). But who knows, maybe I'm wrong because personally I am not interested in such a story. How would that scare the pants off my bored-to-death date? A Ripley dreaming her life away, having xenomorphs ass kicking nightmares would be as entertaining as The (last) Predator.

More important is that if this next Ripley retcon film fails to make money, the whole Alien universe will collapse. At least a film that isn't a box office hit but helps expanding the universe and leaves a lot of possibilities open for sequels / spin offs seems to me the better choice now.
