Good movies with no intentional humor: Do we need the humorous release valve?

The only movie that comes to mind immediately that was great and had no intentional humor was Night of the Living Dead.  It was a dreadful movie but brutal and I had to watch to the end.

Melancholia by Lars von Trier.

It proves we need the humorous release valve.

JonesRules I prefer Melancholia of all von Trier films.

I think the 80's gave us nice examples of hilarious scenes in unusual situations, specially when you think of Paul Verhoeven and Wes Craven.

Here is a horrible movie with no intentional humor and is only watchable with the MST3K treatment.
