David and the Übermensch

Nietzsche is a pretty tough read for me, but his Übermensch, to me, basically sought human perfection and stated that God is Dead. Perfection was impossible- maybe a goal at best.

David's character reminded me of the Übermensch in some ways.

I would appreciate if anyone could flesh this out. I know there are some heavy hitters on this forum but I don't recall this particular philosophy brought up before.

I wonder how accurate the english translation is. Even as a german it is quite the read.

Eine Theorie die nicht auf Etwas solidem basiert ist für gewöhnlich nur Geschwätz.

The music of Wagner is logical for the film, as it fits with David being a villain, but, objectively I'm forced to speculate if Boys II Men or if Backstreet Boys or if Cheryl Lynn couldn't have been used instead to represent David

Sensitive topic. I'm not brave enough to make a comment. :)

dk  It's more of an impulse idea, which has no basis to be a troublesome idea. David and Wagner are an inevitable correlation, and so maybe it's just being aware of the inevitability that messes with the sense that Wagner was correct for the film, or music that's like Wagner. Peter Weyland is the bridge to Wagner, which explains Wagner in the film, but it's also a wonder if very different music could have been chosen for the film instead

Ati I admit to being in over my head here. I am but a goober among members who could go to town on this. We need some BigDave and Michelle to weigh in.

Well, David is not perfect & he knows it, but he is driven by the perfection of the Xenomorph & will stop at nothing to achieve his goal of perfecting it.  I suppose he is doing it for his dead god, Peter Weyland?  I read a lot of Nietzsche, Kant, Rousseau, Machiavelli, Plato, etc back in college 1989-1991 Political Science.  I have forgotten more than I can remember, but Nietzsche is a good one for ol' David the 'Super Boy' android!  Take it away Big Dave!!!
