ati, starbeast (alien) is a mashup of multiple sci fi horrors that Dan from invasion of the body snatchers to space 1999,the thing from outer space etc had seen and took inspiration from.when ask if hed stolen anything from other writers he said it was stolen from all of them.

@joylitt He does though. He looks at online stuff, he has said so himself. 

every director will have a sneak peak at the online reviews by the fans for the first few weeks. theres no way they can resist seeing how their creations r being viewed by the public

@Lilly so correct about Ridley. Hopefully now he realizes that he just needs to make the film HE THINKS needs to be made. He was on the right trail with Prometheus, but listened to the fans WAY too much, and took things off the rails as a result. Had he stuck to his guns and steered the series the way he initially wanted, we would've had a MUCH more original and vast and creative sequence. Who knows, maybe he still will... and perhaps Lindelof wasn't the dummy everyone thought he was...

@joylitt if RS never reads reviews, how did he know that "we" wanted "more xenos!"?

AC was better than Prometheus and it had better characters while there were still things that could have been better. It was a step forward compared to Prometheus.

Fox effed up by focusing on the Engineers and reduce the Xenomorph and so on. My main problem is that the characters in Prometheus were lame and that things that made sense were cut (for example the Xeno Fifield). By getting Logan and Harper they eventually improved AC I would say because as far as I know there were ideas about going further from the Xeno but that is something that I probably would have boycotted. We still got some of the Engineers so that was alright even though I wish that they could have showed a bit more about the role of the Engineers and how they are connected to the Xeno. I hope that they won’t make David the creator of it.

One of my concerns is that Scott will go the route of a crazy android that is behind everything, that is something that I am totally against even though David is an interesting character. Hopefully Fox won’t stand in the way like they did with Prometheus.

Hopefully the tone of the next Alien movie will be more like Alien or Alien 3 compared to Aliens. More thriller compared to a pure action movie. A movie needs a budget to work so I hope that they won’t reduce the budget for the next one (if we get another movie, which I hope that we will get).

Ali81: I think that AC is a lot better than Prometheus, at least the characters were better. I would rather have the next movie being more like AC compared to Prometheus because at least the characters were not idiots. At least I felt like I could relate more to the characters in AC compared to Prometheus. The lack of Engineers or explanation about what happened on LV-223 didn’t bother me at all, I am honestly not very interested in returning to LV-223 and how they portrayed the Engineers in Prometheus was lame. People prefer different things, that is OK but to me Prometheus wasn’t alien-y enough even though there were hints but bad characters was my main problem. Saying that AC is his worst film is to exaggerate it is better than Prometheus, Thelma and Louise, GI Jane, and maybe Gladiator. I have only watched some movies that Scott has been involved in.
