Engineer Pathogen holds perfect continuity

Just wanted to try to contribute something, as I've always enjoyed the Alien universe, and think Prometheus and Covenant are brilliant films!
The pathogen process has been examined a lot, including the various transformations that the pathogen brings about upon interaction with the host's DNA. However, ever since Prometheus was released there has been discussion about the legitimacy of the squid in the pathogen's transformation process. I think the pathogen works very well even without this simple explanation, but since I haven't observed it mentioned before I thought it would be worth posting this video, explaining why I think the squid makes perfect sense.
Video: Shaw ate Sushi
Essentially, Shaw ate Sushi before being intimate with Holloway. The infection going into her stomach rather than her uterus as a result of Shaw and Holloway's sexual interaction after the meal, which didn't necessarily have to be vaginal intercourse (n.b. Shaw identified herself as infertile, although probably not relevant to the role of the pathogen in this discussion). I think the pathogen may have been travelling within or around Holloway's sperm but doesn't need to have impregnated Shaw in order to infect her. In fact I think it makes most sense that any contact with the pathogen leads to infection, which ties into the notion that Shaw was already suffering from a diluted infection while en-route to Paradise. Obtained through either the intimacy with Holloway or the residue from the Squid's removal.
Also, personally I prefer the notion that David didn't murder Shaw but simply made use of her corpse; and possibly nurtured whatever emerged from Shaw's exposure to the Pathogen as a kind of surrogate parent of Shaw's 'offspring'.
What do you think?
