And now Sir Ridley admits it too.

Saw this the other day, and other interviews he touched upon similar.

I wonder how he will deal with the Back Lash this time?

But AC has Aliens in it.... i think if Prometheus showed us a Egg, Face Hugger and Xenomorph that killed a few people.. then backlash to Prometheus would not have been as bad.

I really need to finish my Prometheus Rewrite thats more of a Edit... as i feel this is what fans would have wanted.

I Personally don't think the "backlash" from Prometheus was deserved.  Except for the her abortion scene and then running around like an action hero afterwards there isn't much I found wrong with the movie.  It was always a 'setup' movie to lead to another and then eventually Alien.

I'm getting bothered a bit by Ridley starting to try to conform to fan expectations instead of making the films he thinks should be made. The Prometheus story arc would've been fascinating but I think he just bowed to pressures of the negative loud fanbase through Fox. Don't get me wrong, I love Alien and its' critters...but not at the expense of a fantastic story. Not EVERY one has to center around them.

Lazy pays really well in the film industry.

Spearfish Maybe as a whole, but the last new movie I bought was Prometheus and haven't stepped foot in a theater since Zombie's Halloween was in theaters.

I can understand about artistic vision, but like the music industry, you have to appeal to the masses at some point when at the level of RS.

Indie folks with little to lose seem to have a better chance at taking real risks to make something new. Just my opinion.

Like Starlogger, I don't want to see RS bending over for anyone just to please them for the sake of his vision. That would be wrong on so many levels. But I understand where he's coming from when he says this:

"The fans, in a funny kind of way — they're not the final word — but they are the reflection of your doubts about something … I think you're not sensible if you don't actually take [the fans' reaction] into account."

@tonehound I agree with that to a degree; however, a great football coach once said: "If you listen to the fans, you'll soon be sitting with them."
