Creatures on the mural returning for Covenant?

The creature kneeling next to the Engineer in the first mural from Prometheus. What is it?
Is that a beak just below the head, or a facehugger's tail? Is this creature sacrificing itself, and the Engineer is consoling it?
Or perhaps it's one of the many creations the Engineers have come up with using the black goo.
Thoughts?
Do you think we'll see these creatures next week?

Hi all,
New here. I had to join to share my opinion of what the mural creature was.
I think it looks very similar to the alternate version of goo-ified Fifield, see pic below. The mural shows what happens to an engineer when the black goo is used a certain way, just as it happened to Fifield. Thoughts?
