I've been thinking about all the different ways this feature could be brought into play and have even created a thread for a theory that relies on one possibility.
I am also considering that this may just be a way to explain why Walter doesn't have a British accent (which was probably a design choice for the film to avoid confusing Walter for David and vice versa to the viewer)
In your opinion does this seem more likely to be a character device to accommodate a design choice or does it seem this feature will have deeper significance to Walter's character?
