Can We Please Talk About The Technology (Dis)Continuity In The New Films?

Look, I love Ridley Scott & love that he's going back into the canon to tell a proper story behind the Xenos. Great stuff.
But I feel like the magic of Alien has never been about the Xeno as a whole but the detail in the ships/little reference to Weyland Yutani corp as this omnipotent evil force.
[Example: The water dripping, steam adding to the claustrophobia in the first film, the aweosme little detail with the kid riding the Weyland Yutani tricycle through the corridor in the Aliens.]
What really bugged me about Prometheus (apart from the glaring plot wholes/genre shift into 'space adventure' rather than 'space horror') - was the technology of the ship.
Before you go on about Weyland having billionaire $$ so that's why it was a great epic ship. I can't buy that. It's too much of a leap.
This is meant to be thousands of years BEFORE Alien...
Alien Isolation captured the magic better than Prometheus.
Does this really bug anyone else?
PLOT TWIST: Are they building up to remake Alien completely?
