Eggmorphing the dead

In a xenomorph hive,do you think they'd eggmorph the corpses of chestburster victims?I know in Aliens they appeared to just leave them to rot,and as long as there is a queen it's probably not necessary, but what do you think? If the queen were to die would they eggmorph a corpse to further the life of a colony? Can the dead even be eggmorphed?

How can the egg morph the dead? They way I look at Alien Bret was Lobotomize by the alien when it bit his forehead. How would the dead work when all your cells breakdown after you die?

Brett being dead is up for debate, I believe the alien did not kill him but lobotomize him. That way he could be used as an egg. Dallas was being turned into an egg as well and his body way breaking down and reforming into an egg. I hope they go down the egg morphing path and not a queen right off the bat. Good question IMO the dead can not be used to make an egg.

Don't believe a queen will be seen in Covenant. It's time for Ridley to expand his vision of the series.

There's no point in eggmorphing if you have a Queen.

I don't see why you couldn't eggmorph a body later if the Queen died however. I also don't see how Brett was alive, based on the same thing happening to Parker and Parker and Ripley's testimony of when Brett was taken.

For previous chest burster victims- if genetic material is all that is required and there is no queen, then I don't see why it couldn't happen.

Yeah.It was something the dog/runner could have done in Alien 3

I would think they could Egg Morph dead bodies, but as SM said why would they need to if they had a Queen.

I think however they could use the bodies for materials to help construct the hive.

I really don't see the need for this to to be the case. Egg-morphing dead folks just seems so...wrong. Especially considering that there are Alien queens churning out eggs like a chicken on steroids.

However, it does actually bring up an interesting point. What do they do with the bodies. If they just abandon them, that is one thing. But what if there are other purposes. Does anyone on here have a good idea what these Aliens actually prefer to eat anyway..? Its not like there are any Golden Corrals in the hive, so the options are limited...

Maybe a few alien drones sneak a bite or two off the chest-burst victims  (a before attack snack...?) I would like to see this sustenance angle explored a bit more.

There is a xeno diet thread posted not long ago.

I guess it would depend on whether there would be enough useable material from a corpse to us for egg morphing.

BigDave has a good idea on using the corpses for the hive.

"However, it does actually bring up an interesting point. What do they do with the bodies."

As evidenced in Aliens, AvP and AvP:R - they do nothing.

i don't see why, if the queen was to be killed and no eggs available, it wouldn't be a possibility. as long as the body hasn't decomposed and there is enough organic material left if that's all that is available to them

The decomposition would be a problem i imagine. In Aliens, some of those body's had likely been sitting a while.

id say a day or 2 at most would be the limit

Likely. How long do you suppose some of the corpses we see have been sitting?

hard to tell theres several things to take into account. Hudson states it would take 17 days for others to arrive but doesn't state where theyr point of origin is from. id also imagine with ripleys testimony at the hearing, burke would have been quite sharp when it came to organising a mission to lv426 so im assuming they hadn't lost contact for long before he started the ball rolling. from what I gathered from the book it didn't take long for the xenos to over run the facility, 2-3 days id say. id say the bodies had been there close to 3 weeks but that's just my opinion. from a medical stand point im sure the bodies should have been in a more advanced state of decomp after that amount of time but who knows. is it stated how long it takes sulaco to reach lv426?

S.M. said about a month if i remember correctly. Then we have Mary the colonist, who couldn't have been grabbed more than 24 hours before the marines arrival.Meaning that some of the corpses seen may be no more than a day or two old.

taking just the movie into account, it is plausible that it took several weeks for the xenos to catch all the colonists.
