where do you stand on Alien 3 The assembly cut

Legacy MemberMemberPraetorianJanuary 15, 20176428 Views9 RepliesI'm doing this in response to dk's forum on Alien Resurrection.Much like that film i think Alien 3 is fairly underappreciated,though it took the Assembly cut for me to realize this.That cut goes much deeper into the film,and shows you just how troubled the films production really was with many scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor that never should have.We got more insight into the prisoners religous order,Golic's whole character arc is greatly expanded(the theatrical version just kinds forgets about him)the idea of a royal facehugger,and just more depth in general.Of course the film is still not perfect(after all it was disowned by David Fincher)it still doesn't solve some of the films biggest issues(how the hell did those damn eggs get on the Sulaco?!?)and im certain for many the offscreen deaths of Hicks and Newt is still disapointing(of course you can say they shouldn't have been killed in the first place)but overall its just simply a more rewarding experience in my opinion.Let me know what you think of the film,do you like it?Do you hate it?Have you never seen it(assembly cut or otherwise).Either way i think it deserves another chance especially since this is the film that some might say ruined the franchise,though i think we can all agree it's better than the AVP movies.Once again let me know what you think.
