Spores to Pods (Eggs)

I was just wandering about the evolution from Spores; the Neomorph to the Proto-Xenomorph and the eggs or pods... Upon examining the picture of the egg room I believe that the eggs have roots and perhaps the spores become pods and not eggs. The organism perhaps absorbs any biological material around it to grow and then lies dormant until a humanoid comes along; fitting in with the idea of egg morphing. If the Xeno is also originating from a plant this may give it the shape shifting abilities that have been hinted at and assuming that it is a biological weapon with a short life span it would be naturally absorbed back into a planets eco-system after devastating the humanoid population... perfect weapon - perfect organism...

Cool is that the spore pod that one of the crew stands on in the trailer?
Cool isn't it... Jones is the true star and some say the master of the Xeno... There are some cool and funny videos :)
