FACEHUGGERS! - You know, I actually considered the very notion you have raised roughly a week ago? Even so, it is so very neat to know that someone else has also pondered this possibility! I am so very pleased; I did not assume that the premise would be of interest! With regards to the question: I can certainly see how the Engineer's "nose" could be the tail of a FACEHUGGERS. However, I am uncertain as the creature's mouth and eyes are evenly exposed. Hmm...this is definitely food for thought! :)

It does look like a facehugger's tail,but facehuggers usually wrap their tails around the neck of their hosts.So thats actually an air hose based on the helmets that the jet pilots wear while piloting their air crafts.

Yes ,it's air hose ,you can see in Prometheus engineer take a deep brith before putting his helmets on,but the air hose is different ,bit shorter.

in Alien movie the space jockey flying suit is completely different in looks and colour ,seems design for human rather engineer.possibly design and made by David for Shaw or someone else,who knows,wait and see

The design of the Space Jockey's could be paying homage to the facehugger? (Engineers have temples dedicated to these aliens!....wouldn't be surprised if they are wearing their influences... like a headdress) 

And if you see a astronaut with this type of design...you are dealing with a death cult. And had better run!

I was thinking that the rest of the facehugger could have been fused into the Space Jocky's head. However, I could see how its ribs could actually be a faceugger's limbs.

I remember a long time ago... doing similar post to yours... near enough the same... showing the Giger Concepts and also Fighter Plan Pilot Suits as you did too ;)

What is interesting is that the trunk on the SJ helmet can be interpreted in many ways but it seems to me that the air hose (is that the name?) is closer to what it really is compared to a tail of the monster. Dark Nebula: The pictures of the helmet explains a lot so thanks.
