Prometheus set up to show us the Engineers (Space Jockeys) are a race of Galactic Genetic Engineers, who go around seeding and then evolving life on Worlds... they are the Gods that Ancient Mankind had interpreted.
They was toying with the Ancient Alien/Astronaut concept which suggests that the links between Ancient Mankind on various continents who had little or no contact with each other yet somehow depict Tall Humanoids they determined and worshiped at Gods, and how all these cultures some how have developed similar Architecture and Technologies yet they had no or little contact with each other.
And indeed if we explore many Ancient Cultures then yes many do leave large Monuments of Humanoid Heads.... some Bald, other with Hair and Beards.
And so i think indeed this is something Prometheus and Alien Covenant are going to explore and attempt to connect.
