MemberNeomorphSep-02-2016 3:48 PMWow, great catch! Perhaps this brown ampule contained a creature we yet to see in COVENANT? Or evidence of David8's experimentation!

MemberOvomorphSep-02-2016 5:01 PMI remember reading this novelisation ago and came to the conclusion that it was an egg. Having said that the description could be that of an urn...

S.M
MemberXenomorphSep-02-2016 5:34 PMIt's an empty egg. It's referenced later on when Ripley finds Dallas and Brett.

MemberXenomorphSep-02-2016 8:42 PMThere isn't a pilot room as such in the book what with the pilot not being in the book.

MemberNeomorphSep-04-2016 2:55 AMMaybe but then it depends what we define as reliable sources. A movie is one source and a comic book is another, but it is an interesting observation though. Since it isn't in the movie I doubt that it is very important, but that is just my opinion.

MemberXenomorphSep-04-2016 3:06 PM"Yes, a bulletproof one, so it is not an egg, probably..."
Did someone shoot one to check?
"As for the post, I do not want other members to agree with me but stating that this one equals that one without reasoning is not an answer."
The "urn" they find is likened to the sealed versions Kane finds below - which were eggs, and is referenced later when Ripley finds Dallas and Brett, again, an egg.
It is quite obviously not one of the vases found on LV-223. Not least of all because the book was written 30 years before LV-223 was even a thing.

MemberXenomorphSep-04-2016 4:01 PMThe "urns" in the novel are not Engineer vases. ADF simply likened them to urns as a way to describe their appearance, because he was going by the concept art for Alien eggs.
Speculation can introduce great new ideas, but it doesn't do anyone any favours if one isn't honest and up front about cherry picking things out of their intended context.
Especially regarding movie elements that never ended up on screen.

MemberOvomorphSep-06-2016 10:26 PMOn this subject, I really hope that Ridley doesn't go down the path of the Urns/Vases sweating the black goo on LV223 don't somehow mutate into eggs.

MemberDeaconSep-29-2016 5:28 PMIndeed we need to remember a lot as evolved from the early drafts to Alien.... we had Urns not Eggs.... they was leathery but the other was described as hard.
As SM points out however... it is referenced that they are the same, and so these leathery urns once they have done their job they could dry out and go hard.... this would explain the difference.
We have to remember the final designs of the Eggs was not know to the author and so they was just describing things related to the earlier drafts.
The movie with Gigers Help gave us the Eggs.
Prometheus used the Urns descriptions to be a basis for its Bio-Weapons... as movies in the Franchise have re-used concepts and designs from previous concept and draft work.
Star Beast Mural Chest Buster is visually a lot like the Adult Trillobite.
I cant wait until Ridley finishes his Franchise and we get more answers that would clear things up.... it would stop difference of opinions which can be a good or bad thing too.
We have to remember however that the Movie is Canon and its what the movie showed that we need to consider and not the Novelization.
However yes they could run with the Urn in the Main Room which evolved to the Pilot Room for Alien....
LV-223 is implied in a connection to LV-426 and so yes a Urn could have started the whole thing.... so its possible something related to the Urns infected the Space Jockey that led to a Chest Buster that melted its way down to the Cargo Hold and either Laid Eggs or Evolved the Urns to Eggs.

Maybe this is how the Xenomorph gains some of its none Biological Elements.... if the Urns are not quite Organic.... maybe the atomic compounds its made from fuse with the Black Goo to make a Synthetic/Biological Egg Morph.
